No he didnt
He made an embarassement of boxing by crossing over to the UFC making outrageous claims.
The fact boxing forums have been full of an MMA fight over the past few days is because of him.
Dana White is a marketing genius and has now succeeded in getting a large percentage of boxings fans to get interested in a UFC card dont you think thats exactly what he wanted?

This isnt boxing vs MMA but Toney embarassed himself and boxing last night by competing and showing no respect why on earth did he think he could beat an Olympic wrestler in a wrestling match this was never going to be anything other than that?

I hoped that Toney would have at least given it a proper go. If he'd have at least hit the guy back. James got away with nothing and neither did he give boxing a jump start. If you sign up, give it a go! I thought he'd have backed up and hit Couture hard coming in. I realise it's 2 very different sports but a hard punch is a hard punch. 'Raped Dana White'?! No way; it played the best possible for the UFC and the worst for Toney; where will he go now? (In 25 years boxing fans will lament his slackness).

Have a look at what WORLD CHAMPS ger paid in the UFC.

James was paid more than 95% of UFC fighters that ever stepped into the octogan.

Boxing froze out JT so you think he gives 2 f--ks how boxing looked last night?

Edgar Vs Penn was unofficially relegated to chief support.

James made his money and now he is off to buy sopme more cars and watches.

Has JT looked after his money? He must have earned millions in his career

If he hasn't held onto his money then money doesn't mean the same as it does to a working man. If he has blown millions of dollars then he is a dick. Money is not the most important thing in life; James Toney hasn't been frozen out of boxing. He is a very talented but lazy heavyweight who has used steroids and been caught. He now wants to box for the heavyweight title (before other contenders) because he is a character.

I think Toney was ok financially before taking this fight. Appartently he invested a lot of his money into property and didn't blow it like certain other boxers in the same position.

Good; I'm glad to hear it and hope that he's always ok. I don't think he'll draw 750 grand for the next MMA bout though.

Exactly right. That is the very reason why I didnt cave in and subscribe to ESPN and sit up half the night to
watch that rubbish. It is cute that some people talk about Toney giving boxing a bad name doing what he did last night -
as if boxing is such a pure sport that is up on a pedestal. Nothing does more damage to boxing that the greedy vultures who lord over the ABCs and the greedy promoters (not all) who consistently shortchange fans with rubbish matchmaking and treat boxers like commodities. If Toney can get 750k for hugging a semi-naked dude for 3 minutes then good luck to him, but I wont be paying to watch....

In fact the whole card for UFC 117 made $1,029.000 and James Toney possibly made $1M!

Maybe the MMA guys should take up boxing!

You are missing the point.

MA fighters were shafted. Imagine if someone came and took your paper round and made £20.00 per round opposed to your £4.00 - how would you feel? Especially if you have been doing the paper round alll your life and the new boy just started.

James tore the UFC a new one financially!

Othello; I can see your line of thought. If a MMA fighter tried it out at European level and got whacked in 20 seconds; what then? There's not that many willing to take a chance. I really did think that Toney'd back up to the side of the cage and whack very hard. I do feel educated though; that wrestling and the submission holds must be evil. Toney is a tough man; he doesn't lay down easy. Randy Couture must be one mean man.

RC is a mixed martial artist.

JT is a Boxer.

Each would beat the crap out of the other in their discipline.

Can you imagine ANY MMA fighter coming to boxing and getting paid more than PBF?

It would never happen and the reason is because Boxing generates more cash and is the more popular sport.
