£75k for EBU champion is hardly a record breaking amount. Added to the fact that it is British, Commonwealth AND EBU makes it even more realistic.
£75k for Barker £50k for Macklin is very high for a European title in recent years. £125k all together.

I would be shocked if it was less than Audley, Enzo, Cleverly, Magee, Rhodes, Hatton, Murray, Foster & McDonnell are getting for there european title fights.

Its more than Burns is getting for his WBO fight. Purse bids for that were $65,000 which is £45k. Its more than Bika, Mendy, Guererro, Casamyaor, Linares, Juarez and Pirog got in there recent fights on the Marquez undercard. None of them got more than £50,000

Barker vacated the comm. Murray has it now.

mark delaney got one of the highest ever purse for a british title fight and he was the challanger it all came to the tv rights and viewing figures also he got a % of the gate mark sold 2000 tickets for the fight so collected a % for that aswell calzaghe got a flat £15'000 and he was the champion ?????

I think that Sky pay the promoter 40k for British Title fights and 70k for European and Commonwealth fights across the weight divisions. But, is it generally true that the lower weight division fighters will get paid a lot less than those at the higher weights?

Not all fighters get what the purse bid is.. Just because a purse bid is such an amount it does not mean the fighter cannot say I'll pull out unless you give me more, I mean do you really believe some of the names that have been written in this topic will settle for amounts that have been stated, I mean Macklin was reported as getting a huge payday for Asikinen yet you think he'll take Barker on for less?? Also same dance with Pirog, Let me tell you something mate, There is more to it than meets the eye and purse bids are sometimes just a smoke screen...

Most journeymen earn a lot more money the shorter notice they get - especially for TV fights.

I wonder what the record purse is for a British title fight its probably from the 20's 30's if inflation was taken into account

Lindsay Appleby was closer to treble those amounts.

It would be interesting to know how much some1 like holyfield gets nowadays, as hes still a big name but has zero credibillity left. What do everyone think your serial journeymen like greaves and buckley get for a fight and if it varies for bigger prospects or they have set fees?

And the rest. Thats a decent wage per year considering the amount of 4 and 6 rounders he was in....a mate of mine ex pro Gary Thompson was telling me Buckley was coining it in....massive house, new BM, holidays abroad and that. There's decent money to be made as a journeyman compared to your up and comming prospect with all the ambition in the world. They just turn up do their job, get paid and go home without having to worry about tickets or anything else.

You're quite right. There was an article on him in Boxing Monthly around about the time he retired. He has done very nicely out of boxing and everything you say is true. I couldn't begin to remember how many times i've seen him fight over the years. Watched him for the last time at Newport leisure centre against a prospect. Although he lost, every round was close and competitive. I suppsoe he's the journeyman's journeyman.

How much is a boxers purse dependent on ticket sales? Obviously popular boxers can demand bigger purses but do boxers get a percentage on the number of tickets they sale for eg £1000 purse + 10% of however many tickets they sell.

If this is the case is it alway sbetter to buy a ticket for a show from the boxers directly?

A lot better. Some boxers getting on a show is dependent on how many tickets they have sold. Some promoters will literally take them off the bill if they havent sold enough.

Absolutely, pal. Warren is a very good payer to begin with but his lads also get a decent percentage on tickets sales -I don't know exact percentages from other promoters so won't speculate - therefore to help your favourite up and coming fighters out, it is well worth buying from them.
Between8.5 an 10per cent on tickets I'm sure

Yeh 100 is about right just for the privilege of getting a place on the bill. Unless your with a top promoter/manager your left to your own devices when trying to get rid of them. Every single ticket they give you has to be accounted for so all the unsold tickets have to be returned asap to make sure your not making a profit on the side.
Ticket selling is hard enough especially when you have to try and convince people to travel 100 miles to watch you box in a 6x2's. This is the sad fact for most small hall promotions the up and comming boxer gets next to nothing sometimes not even 10% then you get Karl Taylor for example turns up messes you about for 12 minutes and takes home 3 or 4 times what you make, nothing against Taylor or other journeymen out there it just the way boxing is unfortunatly I think certain promoters make more than they crack on tho....I'd like to see the big promoters give a bit back and do more small hall shows. :box:

Its certainly tough imagine if football players had to sell enough tickets to cover their weekly earnings.

Boxing is a tough business its a pyramid at the top you have the Warrens the Kings and Arums
at the bottom you have everybody else scrapping (literally) for the rest
