Don Cockell
Don Cockell
Does anyone know how Don Cockell, 1946-1956 (Former British & Commonwealth Heavyweight Champ) died? An associate thinks he got shot but I think he's mixed up with Freddie Mills. Thanks
That's right glandular problems eventually bringing about other health problems... and when talking about Don Cockell people automatically think of him as a 'heavyweight' and of course his fight with Marciano.
Don Cockell was in fact a 'light-heavyweight', it was his glandular trouble that caused water retension and the blown-up weight, 'unatural' weight Forcing him to fight as a heavyweight.
When accessing Cockells overall credibility he should be remembered as a light-heavyweight and a pretty darn good one at that!

Thanks Guys.. I knew I should've put a bet on it!!!
Re: Don Cockell
Your associate may be thinking of former Light-Heavyweight Champion Freddie Mills as he died from a gunshot wound, some say he took his own life but some have other theories.Tehseen wrote:Does anyone know how Don Cockell, 1946-1956 (Former British & Commonwealth Heavyweight Champ) died? Don was indeed one tough fighter. Marciano put some real heavy shots on him, not all of them legal.
Plenty of views on Ali V Marciano on this thread mate.warrior wrote:question* how would rocky do with a prime ali.
