Theres been loads of talk and posts about the up and coming 'Burns Night' on Saturday, whos all heading to the fights then? Looking forward to it, got floor seat but dont really know how big Kelvin Hall is.. Cant wait for a great night....

Plus I hope Ricky Burns wins so the Scottish lads aren't too disappointed

Liverpool’s Stephen Smith takes a big gamble when he challenges John Simpson for the Commonwealth featherweight title in Glasgow on Saturday.
Smith faces a vastly experienced champion in his own Scottish lair and does so with just 10 pro fights behind him, all of them wins against mothballed opposition. You know, Smith pushed for this opportunity himself, probably against the wishes of his promoter F rank Warren, who once upon a time would throw a fighter in to see if he could fight or not, but that was once upon a time. Today, Warren is far more cautious in his approach, which makes this fight quite a rarity by his standards. Smith, a protected ex-amateur star, suddenly lacks protection. Warren waved him through knowing full well that Smith will only improve from his first 12-rounder, even in defeat.
OK, Simpson is hardly the second coming of Tancy Lee and was outscored a couple of years ago by another untested youngster going in, Paul "Chuckles" Appleby, but the 27-year-old Greenock man has shown in the past, particularly against Wythenshawe’s Andy Morris, that he learns from defeat and has the last laugh. Since dropping that decision to Appleby in June 2008, a desperately close 12-round decision, Simpson has beaten the rangy, talented Steven Bell and the rangy, talented Paul Truscott (twice) - all three fights by stoppage, all three fights away from home. He snapped the unbeaten record of Truscott to lift the Commonwealth belt.
I have a feeling this fight has come too soon for the 25-year-old Smith, who won featherweight gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and two ABA titles but has never travelled further than eight rounds as a pro (and only once at that). The likeable, intelligent Scouser is quick and clever and looks a great prospect, almost as good as Birmingham’s Frankie Gavin, whom he held to a couple of tight verdicts in the amateurs, but he is no banger and remains very much a prospect. Simpson in contrast has seen it all before - on the road, banged up, robbed, nothing seems to faze him. He boxes a bit, punches a bit, throws plenty of shots, does 12 rounds, has a great chin, and his competition is always class.
I can see Simpson having his hands full on Saturday, particularly in the early rounds with the slick-boxing Smith; I can also see the gritty Scot coming good to take the verdict.

Looking forward to seeing how Paul Appleby looks at super-feather and see if Arthur looks like he has anything left. Simpson-Smith will likely be the fight of the night as well. Can't wait.

I taken cheap seats, still get a decent view if you get in early and get close to the front of the tier

The cheaper ones were one the time i got mine, had to get floor seats... Never been to a show in the Kelvin hall, ad imagine ud get a good view from most parts of the Hall
