Fighters missing in action
Fighters missing in action
Personally it frustrates me when fighters with potential seem to go missing or fight at a really slow rate
Gavin Rees has all the potential to be a fringe world level contender at lightweight and imo is probably at least as good as kevin Mitchell but since he lost his title his career has been stop start with the biggest highlight being a prizefighter win
Tony Quigley I think the lad has great potential has decentish power and a good chin and if he were to fight at middle or even light middle could really make an impact as far as European level but since the Smith fight has gone missing.
Brett Flournoy reached the prizefighter LMW final losing to Prince Arron ona close decision but looked impressive a slick boxer fighting above his weight. I thought that he might have been able to kick on from prizefighter but he hasnt fought since there is plenty of interesting matches to be made domestically at welterweight
Joe Selkirk turned pro in 2008 but has only fought 4 times he is a Warren fighter and comes from the Rotunda gym where the Smith brothers and Bellew originated. A top amateur some claimed that Selkirk was the best of the lot but despite being with Warren has yet to really get his career going.
Does anybody have news on any of these fighters?
Who would you like to see more of domestically who have gone missing?

Re: Fighters missing in action
I've seen Gavin Rees at a couple of events at Newport Leisure Centre. He's usually got Nathan Cleverley and Bradley Pryce with him. Usually when you win prizefighter you get a shot at something so don't know what he's waiting for to be honest.
Re: Fighters missing in action
hes maditory for john murrays british title bet he'll probably end up fighting fot the vacant belt
Re: Fighters missing in action
Does anybody else think that Steve Woods and Maloney should put on some Liverpool shows considering the amount of Scouse boxers in their stables

Re: Fighters missing in action
TBH for the talent that we have there are few shows in the actual city Liverpool is a massive boxing city and boxing event even low key draws fairly big numbers and it frustrates me when they put on the Leigh and Widnes, Wigan shows in the no mans land between Manchester and Liverpool

Quigley is set to face Kenny Anderson in a British title eliminator.wrimc wrote:Personally it frustrates me when fighters with potential seem to go missing or fight at a really slow rate

Selkirk has a 4 rounder on Magnificent bill and will be out again on October 23rd.
Steve Wood is in process of trying to make Brett Flournoy v Bradley Pryce fo a title eliminator

Re: Fighters missing in action
Bradley Pryce is still in the British title shots! unbelievable! last convincing win was against Conception and he is a terrible boxer with a terrible record. I can't see how he managed to beat Hammond for the prize fighter eliminator.
I thought that Price Aaron was in a british title eliminator anyway?

When Bradley Pryce is in shape and has his mind on the job he is a very good boxer and a dangerous banger. His record shouldn't be overlooked.Smokin Preedy wrote:Bradley Pryce is still in the British title shots! unbelievable! last convincing win was against Conception and he is a terrible boxer with a terrible record. Re: Fighters missing in action
Good news on Flournoy i thought he might have found it too hard tofind opponents after his prizefighter display.
ANy idea on when the Quigley Anderson eliminator will be?
Why has Selkirk only had four fights am i rightin thinking he had a few hand troubles or is it because of the small amount of Warren cards last season?

Can't wait for the revival of Nick Macdonald. From what I've seen of him he is absolutely spot on. Could and should go far.

indeed, Pryce can continue to be a dangerman around the mix for a good couple of yearsInsider wrote:When Bradley Pryce is in shape and has his mind on the job he is a very good boxer and a dangerous banger. this thread could have been designed with Adnan Amar in mind. 2 fights since Arpil 2008.
Re: Fighters missing in action
Amar is a good shout I think he had problems with an injury in 08 and then suffered like all of the hennessey stable did when.he lost his itv contract but its a real shame the inactivity of some of these fighters

Seen him in the ams and thought he looked quality - a style that would convert really well to the pros..Chris W 1982 wrote:Interviewed him for our magazine few weeks back mate. The one draw back is that he does appear injury/cut prone though.
