How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
Word is that WBA Cruiserweight ChampG Jones is going to be stripped of his titles if he does make a defense of it asap.
Maybe Green could uni his IBO title with a legit world title, might get some haters of his back.

Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
true, he needs to uni the titles or fight someone credible like BJ flores, and gain some credibility...
Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
Nobody ever criticized Mike Tyson or George Foreman for ending their fights early.
The earlier the fight ends the less chance there is of a fighter being hurt.

Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
Agree Brute, but the opponent has to be active,World rated and allowed to come in at what ever the weight limit is.
Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
I also agree Brute, although, with Houndawgs qualifier. I've been offline for several weeks due to moving house and changing internet providers so would like to take this opportunity to eat my words and wipe the egg from my face in regards to my backing Paul Briggs against Danny Green.
Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
Speaking of activity, I believe Jones has not fought in two years and Brudov's last fight was in June last year.

Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
Since Jones and Brudov are scheduled to fight and are known to go through periods of inactivity, it is very unlikely Green fights one of them.
Excluding Brudov, Jones, and the fighters who have been named by Sauerland as candidates for the super six, here are some credible opponents for Green to fight next. It would be interesting to see if Green's power has the same effect on legitimate cruiserweights, opposed to natural light heavyweights and super middleweights.
Victor Ramirez
Ola Afolabi
Troy Ross
BJ Flores
Pawel Kolodziej
Steve Herelius
Herelius is the WBA interim champion and there is a good chance he gets caught up in WBA politics, or waits for a shot at the full champion, who he would probably be favored to beat at this stage. Kolodziej is the least known of these fighters and seems content fighting in Poland. Flores, Afolabi, Ross, and Ramirez have nothing significant scheduled for the future, and are probably the biggest names in the group. Ross, Ramirez, and Afolabi have fought the best fighters in the division and are willing to travel for a fight. Surely one of them would be willing to fight Green, as there are no better options for them.

Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
Nice post crusader. My pick would be Flores, he is a genuine cruiser 'contender' and an American with a bit of a name. That ticks all the boxes.
Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
green could easily rise to the proper cruiser weight and i don't see why he wouldn't be just as effective.
he could come in a few pounds short and it still may not inhibit his performance. he obviously is a naturally very powerful guy.

Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
perhaps if herelius gets into the cruiserweight super 6 the WBA title challenger might be vacant. that's a big IF and i don't know whether sauerland can, can't or even want to get herelius.crusader wrote:Since Jones and Brudov are scheduled to fight and are known to go through periods of inactivity, it is very unlikely Green fights one of them.

considering green has been fighting smaller or inactive guys, when you consider jones' inactivity and the fact that he was a junior middleweight once (albeit a gangling one), perhaps this is a great, world class matchup for green?
Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
So Herelius beat the same guy Jones beat ( Arslan) and took longer about it a year later.

Re: How about Gillmero Jones V Danny Green??
Why not make a Danny Green vs Marco Huck match up, as that would be an explosive encounter,
Equally, I would like to see Danny Green vs Steve Cunningham or Danny Green vs Denis Lebedev.
Any news on who Green will be fighting next?
