Ricky Hatton reckons his brother can afford to wait for a challenge to WBA Welterweight Champion Vlacheslav Senchenko.
European title holder Matthew Hatton has expressed a wish to face the Russian but promoter Ricky believes Matthew can get a better deal if he concentrates on defending his European belt and manoeuvering his way into the mandatory challenger's position in the coming months.
Senchenko successfully defended the belt on Monday night with a points victory over Charlie Navarro in Donetsk

Senchenko really struggled with Navarro and by all accounts it was a very close fight. I don't see anything on Navarro's record that suggests he is any better than Hatton. Imagine that, Matthew Hatton a world champion. It could happen.

balls in the ring, to an extent, but none in the match-making.
What is he now?? 30?
40 victories?? how many can u name??
has he boxed for the British title yet? No. Will he do? No.
He got beat by Francis Jones then offered Jones a re-match 6 days after Jones lost his "0" to Ali Nuumbembe and then he got his ass handed to him on his own brother's "thank you to the fans" rent a Mexican in Manchester against Craig Watson.........who he later claimed he was better than.
This guy is just in front of Harrison in my "I wish they'd fck off and retire" list. He should do one of them hair transplant adverts to go with his "I take supplements cos it's easier" adverts.![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

What does it matter if he hasn't fought for the British title? he is European champion (albeit because Brook Vacated) he has defended it. I hope Hatton does win the world title to put you in your place.

Brook was never european champion. It was Rafal Jackiewicz who vacated the title in order to chase a world title shot.Smokin Preedy wrote:What does it matter if he hasn't fought for the British title? he is European champion (albeit because Brook Vacated) he has defended it. I have seen literally two rounds of Senchenko when he sparked a British squaddie in the Ukraine. He looked fairly devastating that night, but Elwell is a game, but very limited opponent. It's hard to gauge an opinion.

the reports that came back on Senchenko through Elwell's camp were pretty impressiveDioufy wrote:I have seen literally two rounds of Senchenko when he sparked a British squaddie in the Ukraine. Big, big, heavy shots that landed perfect; I even remember thinking that it was a surgical KO with immense power.Counter-puncher wrote:the reports that came back on Senchenko through Elwell's camp were pretty impressiveDioufy wrote:I have seen literally two rounds of Senchenko when he sparked a British squaddie in the Ukraine.
