Tommy Morrison Meets Hasim Rahman...

Post by Goodnight, Irene »

Head-to-head, prime-for-prime. Two ugly, limited fighters. One fought & beat Foreman while losing to Lewis, while the other nearly fought Foreman & did beat Lewis.

Call it.

I feel that Morrison was the better fighter. But his whiskers let him down in any head-to-head scenario. Rahman could be lethargic. If they fought both of them on their best night Rahman would win it. But if you look at the careers as representative of them as boxers I think Tommy would win a series 3-2 or 4-1

On a good night, the Duke KO's The Rock early I think. I don't think Rahman was ever good enough to weather a storm like Mercer did and come back to KO Morrison. The Morrison-Bentt scenario is a possibility, but I think that Morrison wins more than he loses against Rahman.

This could get pretty nasty, neither had a great chin but they both had huge balls. Rock had an enormous reach and an excellent jab. I'd say more often than not he uses that stick to set up a finish or take a decision.

Rahman one of the most inconsistent Heavyweight's of recent memory. On his Best Night He'd stop Morrison around 7 or 8. Otherwise it'd be a close Split Decision that could go to either guy.

As much as I loath Rahman, I think this would result like his fight with Corrie Sanders with Rahman getting rocked early but weathering the storm and taking out Morrison late or winning by decision. I never thought Rahman to be particularly talented at anything but I will give him this he was a tough guy and could take a fairly good shot unless your name was Maskaev.

Actually, just thinking about it, I'm going to go for Tommy Morrison on this one.

I could see Morrison stopping him y'know. :TU:

Tommy Gunn (pre-aids) by mid-late stoppage, after climbing of the canvas himself.

Tommy, on a good night stops Rahman, on an ordinary night ekes out a points victory.
Morrison doesn't have the whiskers? Really? He was stopped in three fights in fifty two. He fought at heavy weight. Two of them where Lewis and Mercer. It's not like he lost interest every second fight.
Any how, Rahman's been stopped something like five times and yet we (myself included) don't question his chin.
Any way I think prime Morrison beats prime Rahman, would have paid to see it though.

Morrison had one of the worst chins in history...on par with the chin of Jeremy Williams, but Morrison could cripple and opponent with his left hook, well, everyone except a prime Ray Mercer! If he can land early Morrison wins, but if Rahman lands anything it would be lights out for Morrison!

I favour a win for Morrison. I think he would want it more and ultimately had a better arsenal than Rahman.

Morrison by ko somewhere between round 5-8.
