Hey everyone, I'm new here, and I'm hoping to tap into the vast resources of expert fight knowledge here at BoxRec to help bring me up to speed. I'm 36, and have been watching the fights since I was about 9 years old. Only problem is I've really drifted away from the sport over the last five years and I feel like I've got a lot of catching up to do. One thing I could really use is a list of fights I need to see that I might have missed. Since I really haven't watched any PPV shows or even regular HBO/Showtime boxing since about 2001, there's a pretty good chance that almost anything you name will be new to me. I've seen a few things, like the Berrera-Morales fights and the Gatti-Wards, but not much else.
What I'd love to get is a bunch of top ten lists. What are your ten favorite fights of the last five years? If I get enough lists, I'll tally them up and we'll see what the consensus is as we look back at the first half decade of the century.

top ten fights, last five years

Just a quick opinion, and in no particular order....
Freitas - Barrios
Trinidad - Vargas
Mosley - DeLa Hoya 1
Barrera - Morales 1 & 3
Gatti- Ward 1, 2 (and I'd even include 3)
Pacquiao - Barrera
Morales - Pacquiao
Pemberton - Sheika (1 & 2)
Not sure if you're US or UK based, but if Uk, then Jimmy Vincent vs David Walker was one of the most exciting fights I've ever seen.

Well, just like the first person on this thread (ted cogswell), I have stopped watching fights REGULARLY since the BULLSHIT OF THE MILLENIUM in 1999 (Tito-DLH), which was a total garbage.
Boxing to me became DEAD since Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield's ears. I do not see much great technique nor talent nowdays with a few exceptions like Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Roy Jones, Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Jorge Arce and Felix Trinidad. Everybody else look like they do not know how to fight...Is this the best that we have??? I'd rather go to take a shit.
of the last 5 years??? I cannot tell many fights because I do not watch them and simply do not care. The golden years of boxing are probably over.
These are the top 10 fights that I have seen in the last 5 years:
1. Trinidad-Vargas
2. Barrera-Morales I
3. Trinidad-Mayorga
4. Mayorga-Forrest I
5. Pacquiao-JM Marquez
6. R Marquez-Austin
7. Arce-Hussein
8. Mosley-DLH
9. C Spinks-Mayorga
10. Jones-Tarver II
No 15 rounds, no rivalries, pure bullshit and HBO and Don King in the way, boxing is the last thing on my mind.

Well, I am glad that it was on your mind enough to bring you here,... thanks for the list.
Well, I mean, I like fighters of the past...If there's is a PPV fight and I missed the fight nowdays and times, I WON'T CRY NOR MISS IT. I'D RATHER TAKE A SHIT LIKE I SAID BEFORE OR WATCH SOME OF MY OLD FIGHT FILMS OF MY COLLECTION
Like Joe Louis once said:" There are more important things right now than boxing"...The only thing he missed saying was "BOXING IS SO FULL OF SHIT"
