Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
You know I have an aweful feeling that Hudley Harrison will knock out David Haye and become world heavyweight champion. Ive got a feeling that, if the fight comes off this year it could pan out like the Sprott fight, and Harrison could knock out Haye late on. I get the feeling that Harrison will train for this fight knowing it is actually his last chance and a loss would finally end his career, plus a bit of added embarrasment if he is stopped with ease. I think Haye could take this fight as a warm up to bigger opposition but be lazy in training and under estimate Harrison.
I'm proberly dreaming and really hope I do so because to be honest Harrison as world heavyweight champion sounds kind of funny.
Its like putting Harrison in a list of WBA champions and it makes the list sort of weird that he is actually stnding up there with:
Sonny Liston
Cassius Clay
Joe Frazier
George Foreman
Tim Witherspoon
Mike Tyson
James Douglas
Evander Holyfield
Riddock Bowe
and
Audley Harrison
By the way are tickets on sale yet please.

Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
Harrison doesn't stand a chance against Haye. He will get knocked out inside 3 rounds and then retire to the US never to be seen again.
Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
There could be an upset an Big Aud could win - but it certainly wont be late on in the fight.
Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
No, I don't think Harrison will beat David Haye. I suppose he has a punchers chance, but I can't see it happening.
Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
i don't think Audley will win - but wouldn't be surprised if he did stop Haye.
As for either of them holding the same belt as past greats - lots of non-greats have kept the belt warm in that time.

Not a chance what so ever...
Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
haye can beat anyone on his day, he can also loose to anyone if its a bad day and he gets caught cold. I cant see the Haye v Audley fight being made without a rematch clause and Haye would never loose twice if at all.leforge wrote:Haye overrated on here! One thing to remember haye has been knocked down but has never been knocked out and when he gets up he's usually clear headed and brings the pain.

Anyone who thinks Audley can or will win needs their head testing. Maybe they should be following womens Ice hockey.
Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
I agree with your first two statements. I also agree with kingfinn in that Haye can beat anyone on his day. Conversely, I do worry that Haye will lose to someone he shouldn't. I don't think Audley has the confidence to pull it off. This should be a straight forward win for Haye, and a nice lot of money in his bank account.leforge wrote:Haye overrated on here! Is this fight definately taking place?

From yesterday, the 3rd of September:yiddo14 wrote:Is this fight definately taking place?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/se ... -wba-title?David Haye is expected to name his next opponent on Tuesday, with the World Boxing Association heavyweight champion widely expected to reveal that he will take on Audley Harrison in what could be the most lucrative fight in British boxing history.
The date for Haye's second defence is likely to be 13 November, with the venue possibly Manchester's MEN Arena. Last week Adam Booth, Haye's trainer and manager, said: "A fight against Audley Harrison is close to being agreed, negotiations are ongoing."

Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
I think that people are underselling Audleys capabilities. Firstly Audley is a capable boxer- very capable. His boxing skills are world class and occasionally throughout his career he has shown real creativity and some pretty sublime skills. He has a nice jab and is a dangerous puncher. He certainly hits hard enough to KO Haye if he were to land a big one. He's also demonstrated a pretty solid chin. Sprotts punch would have dropped almost any heavy in the division. Put Audley in a fight that he's supposed to win and he will look like a superstar.
Where things go wrong for Audley is the mind. His first big test Vs Danny Williams - fail, his important comeback fight vs Dominik Guinn- fail, I think the losses to Rogan and Sprott can be written off to some degree. In hindsight the Rogan loss wasn't so bad and could have gone either way- and the Sprott loss came on the back of two of the finest rounds he had boxed.
However, if he can be overawed by Williams and Guinn in mentally challenging fights, whats going to happen following all the mind games with Haye. Complete mental breakdown i'd imagine. Look for Audley to clinch and suffer his way to a one sided late stoppage or corner retirement. If he can overcome his demons though he's in with a shot. He'll certainly present Haye with a formidible opponent if he sticks to his boxing and can perform on the night.

But when has he done that and against who? He's 38 now.Jeff Thomas wrote:I think that people are underselling Audleys capabilities. Firstly Audley is a capable boxer- very capable. Audley hits an awful lot harder than Mock and Mormeck. If Audley connects flush with a straight left hand, its goodnight David.kingfinn wrote:haye can beat anyone on his day, he can also loose to anyone if its a bad day and he gets caught cold. 38? Thats irrelevant. People do great things beyond 30 you know.WelshDevil wrote: But when has he done that and against who? He's 38 now.
Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
Haye's overall punch power is immence and he is in the top 3 punchers in the world imo BUT to be fair to Audley he has left hand that could drop an elephant and has the tools to be a world champion just doesnt put them to use like he should, mainly through lack of balls.
Some people just cant fight when they get in the ring - having said that i think Harrison really did himself proud against sprott.
You only have to look at the crowds faces when he pulled that ko out of the bag to know that was one of the most shocking ko's theres been in this country for a long time.
If harrison comes out guns blazing and totals Haye - then i would put money on him beating the klitschkos.
OF COURSE THATS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!!! Because he wont come out guns blazing he'll sit back look for one big punch and get beaten to a pulp by haye.
But the more i think about it Harrison could cause an upset here - his ability isnt an issue its his mentality in the ring thats been the issue. WHAT IF? A BIG WHAT IF? He comes into the ring hungry and with balls the size of coconuts and fights at his potential.

Oh come on, Audley had life and death with every half-decent heavyweight he's boxed and Haye's better than half-decent. You could give Audley a case for throwing everything he has in first couple of rounds but I just think Haye will roll through him.
Would Haye have two life and death fights with Michael Sprott?
Haye spectular KO anywhere over first three rounds.

Of course i was trying to hype the fight up - i'll be putting £20 on haye winning in the first 5.

Re: Does anyone think Harrison will beat Haye?
And I'm not an Audley basher, I really wish the guy had gone on to bigger and better things but he just started pro too late and won Olympic gold at a time when the super-heavy division wasn't at its best.
Also, he badly hurt his shoulder about five fights into his career at some celebrity athlete v gym rat competition when he tried to bench press some silly weight (allegedly, that's what I was told at time as was meant to be interviewing him over phone on the day but he was in hospital).
Shame as the guy did a lot for amateur boxing in the UK and fair play, he's got Olympic gold and that's an amazing achievement.
I'll get no pleasure out of seeing Haye fight him as he should be fighting more worthy opposition and I think it's a shoddy backward step being built up as a British super fight, which it is just not.

I would not be surprised in the slightest if Audley was the betting favourite in EVERY single fight he has taken part in so far in his career.
He has looked good in short spurts I agree(usually against class F Heavyweights though) and back in the day there was nothing more than I would like to have seen than him succeed, BUT he has had too many chances and this is a chance he simply doesn't deserve.
Dirt's last sentence sums it up for me. Haye, being a world title holder, should be looking for much bigger tests than this. If it were a foreign Heavyweight with Audley's record and standing within the division then we would all be crying that the match up was a total disgrace and that Haye should be ashamed of himself.
One of my biggest gripes with this sport is fighters who land title shots when they clearly don't deserve the chance.
