Agree with what tony said groves is not ready for smith. Degale I met at a prizefighter event He came across well i think degale is getting better each fight he has groves should focus on his own career!

I think this is a poor comment, considering I give Smith a slim chance of beating Groves.

Done himself no favors with this lame video.

His should let his boxing do the talking and stop begging for a British title shot when he doesnt deserve one. stop fighting afro/euro bums and get in line. Only credible win under his belt is a 1st round KO over an ageing middleweight in Paul Samuels......

I like the video and I like Goeorge Groves.

I personally think he beats Paul Smith at this time, maybe if Smigga wins a 'World Title' he can defend it against Groves one day.

Groves comes acriss well enough, he is smiling throughout, it's theatre and helps build the fight.

Nothing against DeGale, but who really comes across as the mouthy one out of the 2?

Jesus. That's embarrassing. Groves is a decent prospect but way below Smiths level at the moment, far too inexperienced and probably knows he's not going to get near him because Smith is going to be fighting for bigger belts anyway. The stuff between him and DeGale has the potential to be a really explosive and marketable domestic rivalry, but unfortunately neither fighter handles themselves with enough real charisma to generate much interest outside of boxing circles.

The problem with youtube and the internet in general is it's a little bit too revealing, there's 6 minutes odd of Groves there and he comes across so poorly there. I'm surprised at Booth and Hayemaker in general to be honest because both this and the Haye video talking about the Kitschkos have looked like amateur hour. Both fighters stumbling on their words repeating themselves, one filmed in a park and another in the front seat of a car. They've made no secret of their desire to take their fighters into the mainstream and make them more marketable, so they could have, for a start, if they HAD to do these videos, shot them properly and edited them to make their fighters look better, sharper and make them more watchable and interesting. Like the Haye one, after hearing the same thing repeated over and over again you lose interest very quickly and any sense of these fighters as 'stars' is kind of taken away.

Neither has the intangiable "man of the people" quality of the Hattons and Brunos of this world, and equally they don't exude the menace of say, Nigel Benn, the ridiculous almost comedic charisma of Eubank, or the sheer star quality of Hamed.

On a sporting level, the British boxing scene feels in a really healthy place, decent bunch of domestic level heavyweights who should be producing a few decent matchups in the next couple of years, plenty of prospects at various stages in other weightclasses, and a few that are out there (Haye, Khan, Froch etc) fighting in genuinely huge fights at last. But there's a lack of any REAL star boxers in the mix at the moment that match natural charisma with exciting and memorable fights.

People talk about Haye as marketable because he used to be a male model or whatever, but the hype stuff with the klitschkos hasn't registered a jot with the general public, what's made him more popular was winning a couple of big fights, the Enzo one which excited the British boxing public, and then beating the Russian freak which captured the imagination outside of the game. Khan has never been great at selling himself, often dropping his foot in it and lacking charisma, and somehow coming across way more arrogant and unlikeable in the public eye than he is in reality. Froch hasn't managed to capture the imagination at all despite some of the most impressive victories in recent years at the top level, and out of the prospects none of them show signs of the sort of thing that elevates you beyond the boxing world.

There's plenty of great emerging talent in British boxing who are going to hopefully go on to prove their skills on the world stage and will do so by concentrating on what they do best. I like DeGale too but his attempts at looking as 'confident' as Mayweather with his attitude/celebrations/talking just are a bit cringeworthy. From the very early days with Hamed, like him or loathe him people were drawn to his fights because he just had it on that level. This sort of thing isn't something you can learn, you've either got it or you haven't, and in the fight game it needs to be backed up with genuine, explosive, entertaining talent or, for the British public, the willingness to go to war, dig deep and show heart (like the Bruno and Hattons of this world)

I guess what my conclusion is, is that managers, promoters etc, who've all been in this game a long time should be able to recognise the strengths and weaknesses of their fighters. Unless you can really walk the walk with your mouth, then do your talking with your gloves, or at least get someone to edit your rubbish youtube videos. Plenty of fighters have become legends without needing to try and act like Ali, if you can't do it...don't. George...you cant mate.

Wow that video was irritating. I'm all for a bit of trash talking when necessary to sell a big fight, but all this came across as was bitchy and just slightly embarassing. Give up on your youtube video career Groves, it didn;t work!

Anderson done all he could, paul david pulled out of eliminators twice and then he beat mendy who just won prize fighter, anderson shud be in a elimnator postion maybe it shud be against groves.

Nice kid, and intelligent too, and I'd say he's been put up to this by his "maverick" manager Adam Booth, some of the phrases he uses sound like Booth. A bit amateurish but so what, he's just winding a few people up and personaly I'm looking forward to him flattening De Gale ASAP.

I can't see any Scousers being defensive over 'our' fighters here. Go and play with some sticks.

Move over George Groves.

Sorry pal - your good friend James Degale will be first in the queue.
