One annoying thing though, MC Mark Burdis really needs to practice his delivery when it comes to announcing judges' decisions. I'm sure he said that it was a majority decision - it was a split decision!
The MC was correct,a split decision is called a majority in Britain

No it's not. A majority is when one is a draw.
Well, you learn something new everyday.Sorry OP!

I think it is a bit unfair to say that Watt's behaviour was disgusting when he didn't say anything bad. Watt usually seems fair when it is a Scottish fighter versus an English fighter and I didn't sense anything different this time.

I didn't tape it, but I will have a look on the internet and see if I can find it. Him being negative about Stephen doesn't mean it is an anti-English/pro-Scottish thing though.

smigga- Watt is always being negative about something or someone.

i wouldn't necessarily take it as a personal thing on Steve, myself, like.

watt's a bit like my nan was in her last days, we all got to the point where it was like 'there she goes again just ignore her' i think the same applies here :TU:

I was live at the fight, the shots Simpson hit Smith were far greater and more frequent.
I lost count the number of times Smith had spray sent flying from his head.
I felt Smiths body language at the end the fight told you what he thought the result was.
Simpson robbed again!! but this time at fking home due to it being on a FW show!
Am fed up with this! Why has Simpson continually being held back when Burns is fighting for world belts.
The least Simpson should have fought for by now is the European.
You could see this result had ripped the stomach from him again!!

Well said.

Simpson is an FW fighter as well.......bang goes the theory that FW was cooking the result to favour his fighter Smith!

Close fight which could have gone either way. I thought Simpson had done enough, and yes, Smith did look dejected after the final bell..........but 2 of the judges obviously thought he had done enough, regardless of where the fight was and who is whos fighter.
Simpson is not a FW fighter, his manager is Alex Morrison, he might have a 'promotional contract' with FW but only to be used against his golden boys.
Simpson has been a champion longer than Burns! yet has not been pushed for a Euro or even a world like Burns has! Go figure!

to be honest i never noticed, but it felt like watt had simpson well losing the first half. how come stephen never mentioned he hurt his hand & why was he lunging in with the right??? was his left injured??

the cut never hinderd him what so ever & never changed the fight. i cant believe his hand was broken :!:

The person saying that the look on my face said that I thought Stephen lost - Are you the new Dr Lightman now? Reading people's minds judged on their expressions? Anyone who has their younger brother in a massive fight like that and knowing the fight was pretty close would look a lot worse trust me. The fact I'm a fighter myself stops be crumbling. The nerves are worse when it's a sibling in there.

I have been a fighter! no offence but your body language was not that positive at the end of the fight! Just my opinion.

Stephen throws a lot more punches than he did on Sat. I initially thought the cut affected him mentally, but a broken hand make sense.

Stephen see's the same surgeon as me and he's the best in the country, His hand is most certainly fucked!! Im so happy he come on here and told everyone, I've been biting my lip but the kid boxed 7 rounds with a broken hand and let me tell you the pain is unreal, I've done it a few times and it's a pain I cannot describe!! the kid has shown in 1 fight that, He has balls,is a 12 round fighter and has shown that he can change tactics under extreme pressure!! These are all things that wil take him to the level he's gonna end up at, he did amazing Saturday and believe me when he says he will give John Simpson a rematch!! Stephen is a kid who lives by his word and we don't have many like him in the sport.... :TU:

Well if the broken hand is the case then that does explain a bit of the excessive holding and the wilder swinging and lunging shots towards the end of the fight. Hope it isnt too big a deal and it heals quickly. Got to like Smith boxed beautifully first ffew rounds and even when Simpson tried to charge forward yo could see Ste wasnt afraid to mix it up and I thinkSimpson felthispower a few times.

Would fancy Smith to win impressively in a rematch. I think this couldbethe best way forward before a Lindsay fight will give him more experience more round at a higher level which is the prep needed for Lindsay

I think Watt has been pretty awful now for about the last year. He's been way off with a lot of fights in that period and his attitude towards some fighters has been poor

I will definitely give John a rematch, he deserves that as he didnt have to fight me, he could easily have moved on to European level but never, he accepted my challenge and im grateful for that.

I set out to box John, as I did in the first few rounds, then I broke my left hand at the end of the 4th or 5th and started leading with rights and lungin in and gettin messy, smothering up close. Neglecting my jab. Gutted really but all things I can put right.

People need to remember, I have gone to a GOOD CHAMPIONS backyard after 10 fights and fought for the Comonwealth Title in a very hostile atmosphere. A lot of prospects are still knocking bums over 20 fight in. I will make mistakes yes but feel im learning in the best way possible as I will have learnt more from that Simpson fight that I would have in another 10 bums.

Thanks again for all the support, hope you all had a good night.

P.S Congratulations Ricky Burns.

Congratulations Stephen, you done yourself pround. It was a tough hard fight and Simpson deserves a lot of credit too for pushing you hard, but your the CHAMP enjoy!!! Bring on the rematch.
