Froch Vs Abraham TV
Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
re showtime. a lot of ppl in america have it, and most stateside boxers are desperate for that kind of coverage for good money on a premium channel. so let's not overlook that, eh? froch obviously has some more TV dates, and if he loses, then he'll probably be over on HBO to fight lucian bute...
Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
they've got the deal for the entire S6 series.rocket79 wrote:been announced on primetime mate! primetime might not be great but at least they doing it so im grateful!

Has MH been a good promotor for Froch?Autobarn wrote:re showtime. a lot of ppl in america have it, and most stateside boxers are desperate for that kind of coverage for good money on a premium channel. so let's not overlook that, eh? froch obviously has some more TV dates, and if he loses, then he'll probably be over on HBO to fight lucian bute...

I never overlooked them.I stated Carl has earned well solely down to Showtime.Autobarn wrote:re showtime. a lot of ppl in america have it, and most stateside boxers are desperate for that kind of coverage for good money on a premium channel. so let's not overlook that, eh? froch obviously has some more TV dates, and if he loses, then he'll probably be over on HBO to fight lucian bute...
Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
the TV situation isn't great in the UK. it seems to be sky or nothing.
all i'm saying is, froch has a slot that a lot of yanks and mexicans want.
imagine if froch had no showtime, and just itv big fight live (as an example). could itv big fight live make the big fights with kessler and abraham happen?

I won't pay for PrimeTime again.

Why the long face? I mean, why won't you pay for Primetime again?Horse wrote:I won't pay for PrimeTime again.

The last time I paid for their PPV they had no undercard and they wouldn't let me tape the show. Why wouldn't they allow me to tape it?Asterix wrote:I mean, why won't you pay for Primetime again?

No idea. Anti-piracy? Nah, I haven't a clue. Which PPV was it?Horse wrote:The last time I paid for their PPV they had no undercard and they wouldn't let me tape the show. Why wouldn't they allow me to tape it?Asterix wrote:I mean, why won't you pay for Primetime again?

Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
It's probably something to do with the repeat shows that they try to sell in the weeks following the live event.Horse wrote:Froch vs Kessler.Asterix wrote:No idea. Anti-piracy? Nah, I haven't a clue. Which PPV was it?

Who would buy the same PPV twice?Deno1986 wrote:It's probably something to do with the repeat shows that they try to sell in the weeks following the live event.
They offer an inferior service to Sky Box Office and then they insult their own paying customers by not allowing them to record a fight they have just paid £15.00 for. They won't get my money again.
Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
If you book via box office on sky it remains on your Sky+ for a certain number of days, if you book via phone or online you cannot record - it does stress that.Horse wrote:Froch vs Kessler.Asterix wrote:No idea. Anti-piracy? Nah, I haven't a clue. Which PPV was it?
It's the same for Sky box office events.... plenty of advice on this situation on other sites though. It is anti pircacy laws and they Macrovision the show.
Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
I have never had a problem recording Sky Box Office on a tape.stujones wrote:If you book via box office on sky it remains on your Sky+ for a certain number of days, if you book via phone or online you cannot record - it does stress that.

pretty sure calzaghe-kessler was setanta
Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
Was that with Sky + (do you have the same system now). I'm pretty sure Sky and Primetime have the same box office system. Its Macrovision.Horse wrote:I have never had a problem recording Sky Box Office on a tape.stujones wrote:If you book via box office on sky it remains on your Sky+ for a certain number of days, if you book via phone or online you cannot record - it does stress that.

Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
As I always say, he has been a very good manager for Froch (getting him a world title shot in Nottingham, getting him in the super 6) but a dreadful promoter (missed TV opportunities, and nobody knows who he is).leforge wrote:Has MH been a good promotor for Froch?Autobarn wrote:re showtime. a lot of ppl in america have it, and most stateside boxers are desperate for that kind of coverage for good money on a premium channel. so let's not overlook that, eh? froch obviously has some more TV dates, and if he loses, then he'll probably be over on HBO to fight lucian bute...
I recorded Adamek v Grant the other week, but it deleted itself after 10 days.Horse wrote:Who would buy the same PPV twice?Deno1986 wrote:It's probably something to do with the repeat shows that they try to sell in the weeks following the live event.

Im not knocking Sky, but Froch is part of a bigger picture than the UK domestic scene.leforge wrote:Tell David Haye or Ricky Hatton it does not pay!G0mez wrote:Sky dont pay feck all.
I know of an imminent show they paid 90k for and a previous ´big show´they paid nothing for.
FACT.
Froch is fairly big news Stateside in boxing terms thanks to the S6, compared to any other Brit - and is earning top wedge from Showtime. His scrap with Taylor won WBC fight of the year and the whole of America watched it. Wheras lets be honest, who cares a sh*t about John ruiz or bloody Monte Barrett? these guys have been festering on German undercards for god knows how long.
I think he is happy with a level of anonymity in this country.
He is happy with the odd cheesy charity appearance on TV or question of sport type stuff - but i doubt you'd catch him on Chatty Man with that goofy bastard, likewise whoring himself on the Lilly Cabbage show.

Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
Khan probably gets as much coverage on the US websites. They are always on about the 140lb'ers.He is on HBO too.I suppose its not Haye's fault America cant produce a decent heavyweight.
Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
What money would they lose allowing a person to keep the fight after 10 days?chrisfinch wrote:I recorded Adamek v Grant the other week, but it deleted itself after 10 days.
How are they going to make money out of the fight after that length of time? DVD sales?
Re: Froch Vs Abraham TV
In fairness to primetime i dont have a sky or any other phone line in my house and when i signed up for the recent ward-green fight the connection fee was only £2.50 and the fight £5.99. The phone lines are easy to access at all hours with minimum waiting times if any.mickey1975 wrote:Froch won his title in a FOTY against Pascal on ITV live.A rerun of his last gasp stoppage was shown on ITV,twice.ITV then showed a rerun of Direll. To access Primetime you needed Sky,with a phoneline connected and had to pay a connection fee for the first time you watched pushing the cost up to nearly £20.It had me scratching my head and getting severely pissed off and im a hardcore fan.how many casual fans this cost Froch, who knows?People are used to pressing one button on the Sky remote and thats it.Imagine how many come home from the pub and just impulse buy from SBO.This was virtually impossible with Primetime, even to those who knew it existed.Primetime was also unavailable on the Virgin platform, ruling out millions more.Carl has earned well soley down to Showtime.MH has had an exciting WBC champion in a groundbreaking tournament and seriously let him down.Oh,and if you did buy the excellent Kessler fight, you were paying almost literally for that fight,i have never known an undercard like it,with the possible exception of the Primetime Direll fight, and they looked like they had spent about £20 on production with Darren Barker refusing to commit because he has sparred both. Its seriously fecked up Carls profile and pocket.
Also lets hand it to prime time, the tv picture may be like dog shiite warmed up, but at least they re run all the fights 3-4 fights later.
I have seen Froch-Dirrel, Kessler-Froch, for free on prime time rereuns, and they do make you want to buy the subsequent fights. I also like the press conferences and pre fight stuff they show about the super 6. I never budgeted to buy all the fights. But i have bought 50% and the others I have watched for free a month or so after on the prime time free view.
I think they should carry on showing the fights on freeview a few weeks after the event as it helps those who like me cant afford to buy all the fights interested.
Cos of course most of us want to see the fights live.
