Whatever the merits or otherwise of this fight, it has clearly captured the imagination of the boxing public. And in a way that fFroch and Hennessey can only dream of.
With 9 weeks til the fight, and only 3 weeks to the much more competitive and significant Froch v Abraham fight, on the first page of the forum there are 17 Haye v Harrison threads and a mere 3 on Froch v Abraham.
Ok, I know that Haye - Harrison has only just been announced, but I can't see the situation being the same 3 weeks before that fight, with, say Khan v Maidana dominating the forum.
It may not be ideal but it is clearly getting folk talking. That has to be a good thing right?

Re: Haye and Harrison on BBC1 Breakfast at 8.30 today
Part of the reason why I give Audley a chance is because I cannot see how he freeze against Haye (might be an arguement to suggest he always fights "frozen) - he is so much bigger physically. He's always given me the impression of a bit of a "bully" in the ring, and when things start not to go his way - thats when the problems happen and he goes into a shell (e.g Danny Williams, Dominic Guinn, Rogan) - when he can solidify a good start, that's when he can get going (e.g. Danny Williams 1, he failed to solidify vs Sprott (1)).
I think he has been purposively coy and pensive, cause, with his advancing age, he is becoming increasingly reliant on landing that one punch on a fighter coming on to him - all of his prize fighter, Sprott (2) etc. He seems to be able (now) to struggle to lead off. He's hoping Haye walks on to one. I think Haye though might be playing a mind game of his own. He needs to fight as he did vs Valuev for a couple or round... Audley will make the mistakes as he tires - then Haye will capitalise.
Just remember all the talk Haye had of going for Valuev.

audley and haye are gonna come to blows before the fight starts i reckon......haye looked really pissed off and bemused every time harrison spoke on sky sports news today......
Re: Haye and Harrison on BBC1 Breakfast at 8.30 today
...and thus the 24/7 type series in the build up will be a huge hit. So many people will tune in expecting to see the tension between the two flare up and you can guarantee that Sky will over play any argy-bargy to the fullest.Jesus wrote:audley and haye are gonna come to blows before the fight starts i reckon......haye looked really pissed off and bemused every time harrison spoke on sky sports news today......
I'm sure there is genuine needle in there, but Haye proved with the klits t-shirts, the insulting of Valuev and the mockery of Enzo that he can run his mouth in the interest of ticket sales. Sky must be absolutely loving him. Also loving all the PPV buys that appearances on BBC, ITV and national radio are generating.
Re: Haye and Harrison on BBC1 Breakfast at 8.30 today
I don't think Haye's a great fighter. He's a WC but not a great. And I personally don't think he will become one. There are some chinks in Haye's armour and ludicrous as it may seem it's not inconceivable that Audley could do something here.
It's real unlikely, but if the size of the event, as well as his age and the fact it's his last and only shot at a world title sink in, I think we could see a more aggressive Audley Harrison and if he wallops Haye anytime, Haye's gonna wobble.
I'm actually looking forward to this now, and I've been sick to death of Harrison in the past.....Haye's probably a real nice fella but his arrogance and hype is starting to wear thin now and I'm actually rooting for the underdog here...
Essentially Audley needs to pack almost a full career's worth of balls, guts, and aggression, that has been lacking, into this one single fight.

If all the critics want to ring me when Tomasz Adamek or Chris Arreola ever appear on Radio 4 and Daybreak.Poncey wrote:As Payney touched upon in the announcement thread, this is a big fight for the armchair fan. The fact that Radio 1 were considering having them both in the studio (to my knowledge this has never happened) is testament to the interest this fight will generate.
Is it the best fight; no. But both are gonna get paid well and the numbers won't be scoff worthy.
I wont stay in and wait.

Audley Harrison will sh*t his oversized boxer shorts as soon as he steps through the ropes - the banter until then will be quite good and will convince some it will be a good fight.
Haye is one evil f*cker when his mind is on the fight - poor poor Audley.

They can whore themselves on as many middle-of-the-road breakfast TV programs as they like, but at the end of the day... it's mismatch i'm sorry to say to all those thinking "What if Audley lands something??" which is already emerging in the threads on this one.
A mug will buy it, a bigger mug will attend it.
I'll hook up with Justin for this one me thinks. In the meantime I will chuckle at their scripted 'we were friends, were now enemies' patter. Although it's already getting tedious as well.
I predict you'll get a good 100+ minutes of various TV appearances and plugs for this fight - but the youtube video of the actual fight will be between 3 - 6 minutes long maximum (depending on entrance times).
