It would make sense to have it in London, I guess the only arena in London that is equivalent to the MEN, is the O2 arena and if that's booked up then they are stuffed I guess.

Manchester fans have proved that we have a great appetite for boxing, MEN is a great venue, I've always found the atmos at MEN to be far better thn that generated at O2!

Why do countless sporting events involving northern individuals and teams take place in London?

At the time of the Haye v Maccarinelli fight were there not concerns about crowd trouble because Millwall played Swansea the same weekend. This was supposedly the clubs supported by the 2 boxers and the football fans have clashed in the past.

There was plenty of trouble, I saw at least six fights, one of them going around half the way around the arena walkway involving a good 20 lads.

I think Haye has a contract with the MEN. The 02 contract was/is void when Setanta went bust.

The atmosphere for boxing is much better at the MEN than the 02.

Probably because no on else is interested. Haye has done nothing extraordinary as the WBA Champ and his defense against a fading Harrison is not giving his heavy weight reign any real credibilty. I mean he beat that clumsy Russian giant Valuev by decision, then beat the hell out of a washed up John Ruiz and now he 's going against Audley Harrison. What has Harrison done to earn a title shot? Very little as far as I'm concerned. If Haye wants to be taken seriously, he needs to fight a more credible challenger. Saying that, I was disappointed with the K brothers recent heavy weight opponents.

Harrison is Euro champ so that gives him a legit challenge. Also lets face it there is nothing to fight really that makes the kind of money when Mike Tyson and co were around, i guess you have to get what you can. I'm sure this is the biggest fight out there in terms of money for Haye. He can't lose in terms of finance. you are not going to get the 'legend' term these days as there is nothing out there. After the K brothers who else would generate millions and TV revenue. And to be honest in my opinion and im sure im going to get some stick for saying this, but those 2 are that good, take away the size and youve got F-all

the two fighter's in mention are hardly from the lewis or bruno mould & despite haye rambling on about how people were watching his fight in pub's & club's when he won the title is a load of barry, most didnt even know he was fighting & the one's who did wasnt botherd. i'd find it hard to believe the world will be tuning in to watch this sheet :!: & i cant believe how much money get's amassed for it :!:
