EBU President Ruben Martinez and Justo Vazquez, President of the Spanish Federation, are involved in a courtcase in Madrid. Charges have been brought against the two for fraud and they could, if sentenced, face up to three years in jail and huge fines. This is the result of an investigation reported about some time ago. There are more rumors than fact surrounding the case but it appears to deal with activities in the Spanish Federation alone.
IBC jr light champ Janos Nagy will now defend the title against Tanzanian Said Chiddy May 7 in Paks with Felix Racz´s Felix-Promotion putting it on. A deal with Samuel Kebede fell through due to unclear reasons. IBC and IBU 135 lb champ Lazlo Bognar will put one of his belts on the line and female star Bettina Csabi is in the chief support.
Hungarian promoter, manager and agent Gheorge Racz have passed away at the age of 56. Racz founded Unio Box Team with his son Felix in the early 90´s and kept it going all the way until hit by illness this past summer.
Norwegian lightweight Geir Inge Jorgensen takes on Nico Salzmann on the undercard to Klitschko v Castillo April 23 in Dortmund. Jorgensen is for this fight representing Kronk.
Ukrainian lightheavy Yuri Barashian stopped Tanzanian Joseph Marwa in the fourth of their scheduled eight-rounder Sunday night in Kiev scoring four knockdowns.
Hector Moreira won the Spanish 140 lb title with a points win over Ancor Placeres April 15 in Alcobendas.
Finnish ex-wrestler, bodyguard, politician and you name it Tony Halme have announced comeback plans and square off with Allan Gronfors for the vacant Finnish heavyweight title.

The chief supports feature the postponed Danilo Haussler v Cristian Sanavia tussle for the vacant WBA I/C 168 lb belt and a belated defence by EBU welter ruler Frederik Klose, who defends against Oktay Urkal.
WBO lightheavy champ Zsolt Erdei might just - as indicated a few days ago - defend the title against Medhi Sahnoune June 18 in Germany but it´s not a done deal yet. Sahnoune keeps busy on the undercard to Monshipour v Nakazato (WBA 122) April 29 in Marseille against Mukadi Manda.

Wladimir Klitscko´s easy win over Eliseo Castillo Saturday night drew around 10 000 fans to the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund as well as 8,9 millions watching on ARD but German press weren´t exactly impressed with Castillo´s performance.
Unbeaten Hungarian jr light Janos Nagy, who was to have fought Manuel Medina in an IBF eliminator, has fallen from # 4 to # 13 in the latest IBF ratings. Promoter Felix Racz, who handles Nagy, isn´t exactly happy about how the IBF have handled this affair and writes in a press release that it´s still not clear what happend in the purse bids for Nagy v Medina that was held April 12. Racz goes as far as to threaten with a lawsuit. No comment yet from the IBF.
French middle champ Franck Mezaache retained the title Sunday (Apr 24) in Lingolsheim with an eighth round stoppage of Pierre Moreno.
WBA 168 lb middle champ Mikkel Kessler, all set to leave for Sydney today (April 25), have been forced to withdraw for his May 11 defence against Tony Mundine due to a back injury. Team Palle have asked for a postponement for about four to eight weeks.

WBA lightheavy champ Fabrize Tiozzo´s next defence might be against German Thomas Ulrich in September or October with the winner to face the winner of a possible Zsolt Erdei v Medhi Sahnoune (WBO) fight.
Spanish Promosport Planas were the sole bidders in the today´s pursebids for EBU flyweight champ Brahim Asloum´s mandatory defence against Ivan Pozo. Promosport Plans bid 80 200 EUR (a lot of money at 112!) and plan to stage the fight July 1 in Vigo - it´s however likely that Asloum have other plans.
Esham Pickering´s postponed defence of the EBU 122 lb title against Spaniard Miguel Mallon will now go ahead June 3 in Madrid. Welter Pablo Navascues, superbantam Franklin Theran and jr light Segio Palomo are featured on the undercard.
Ex-EBU heavy champ Przemyslaw Saleta, never really retired as he has kept busy in his old business of kickboxing, comes back in a six rounder tonight (April 29) in Poland on the undercard to Polizzi v Piatkowski (TWBA 160). Saleta have taken the fight on short notice as Norwegian Leif Dolonen Larsen fell out due to his legal problems.

Also on the St Petersburg bill are middleweight Sergey Khomitsky and feather Evgeny Strausov.
Spanish mini fly Rafael Lozano have signed with Tundra vs Barcelo and debutes for his new promoters April 30 in Cordoba against Romanian Vasile Cristescu.
Looks like WBF 154 lb champ Mihaly Kotai will go for the vacant IBO belt in June in Germany. As for opponent well, the IBO mention Argentinian Raul Bejarano.
It deserves to be noticed that Norwegian Geir Inge Jorgensen, associated to Emanuel Steward, did not win a landslide 60-54 decision on all cards against German Nico Salzmann April 23 in Dortmund. Instead Jorgensen took home a close - but said to be deserved - majority decision with the scorcards reading 58-57, 58-56 and 57-57.

Nigerian heavyweight veteran Henry Akinwande have signed with Sauerland Event and will be included on the May 14 show in Bayreuth where he face Russian Alex Vassiliev. A win there - and a win for maineventer Nikolai Valuev who square off against Clifford Etienne - set the stage for a "giant" showdown between two of the tallest guys around July 16 in Nuremberg. Akinwande is well known in Germany where he impressively beat Timo Hoffmann, lost and drew with Axel Schulz and knocked out Mario Schiesser.
