I give Danny Green credit for taking/organising this fight. BJ Flores is a fully fledged cruiserweight, and one that was rated around 7th in the World by Boxrec before the inactivity hit. The only criticism I have is that Flores is inactive and has not shown any recent drive. After beating Darnell Wilson in 2008 it was his time to break through, but he took a back seat. I hope he's not just in this fight for the money. I don't think he is.

If Danny wins then it's a very good victory. If he wins by first round knockout, not in suspicious circumstances, then it's an awesome victory. Danny's still not yet a fully fledged cruiser, giving up at least a stone to Flores!

tinnie,

just because they called him out before doesn't mean green is obliged to accept ffs. that is ridiculous.

what weight is this capped at? bj has be 90-100kg's his hole carrer.... danny has be late 70kgs and peaked at 83kg in last 2 fights.. thats a shit load of weight to gain...... ... if he's going up that much he might as well fight shane cameron after that......... shane was calling him out which i though was a bit of a joke with the weight diff, but maybe not..

like some1 else said bj's record looks padded but the yanks seem to give him big up's.... seen him waffling on espn's friday night fights a few times but never seen him with the gloves on...

I have just got back from the open session Greeny and Bj put on at Challenge stadium. Now before everyone jumps on saying it was only an open session and they are two months out from the fight (I am aware of all that) I was pretty impressed with BJ. All the guys did was a very brief pad session, but Bj showed power and speed and the size difference is in the two fighters is greater than I expected (TV does not do it justice). If the size difference was only in the legs or waist I would say it doesnt mean much, but he is much bigger across the shoulders and back.
There was a good turn out there and the guys were very obliging to all supporters. Well done lads and well done to GMP.

look what it's taken for green to defend his "world title" vs a world class fighter...

one of the greatest farces in australian boxing history (the briggs "fight").

surely main event or whoever it is demanded MUCH better and this is what they got.

If you want to be precise it is 90.719404 kilograms.

Amateur boxing has metric weight limits, professional boxing has imperial weight limits.

Hands up ( honest now), who thought Roy Jones Jnr was a step up for Green, the only fight ican fault himfor isBriggs. Should never have happened

I thought all of his defences had merit,(at the time world class) Jones Jnr, Siacca and Briggs, but as Marlin had said, until they entered the ring and got blown out.

The Siacca fight was basically sticking it up Mundine's bum, and who in there right mind would have thought that Briggs fight would end that way.

Of course people wanted like myself to see Danny fight a proper Cruiserweight, and now he is, and the most important thing is that its not a bloke from this region were atm none would compete with him, he's gone with an undefeated and rated American.

i picked green to beat RJJ, but many picked RJJ to repeat his display over jeff lacy which i felt was total bollox.

briggs should never have happened, because as hopeful as some of us were, there were warning signs - even before the weigh in farce - that briggs was an incoherent figure and not fighting fit.

green's paymasters surely want something competitive, so this must be the result.

Yes, I most definitely thought that a post-prime RJJ was a big step-up over Dominguez - as did everyone I think. Prior to the Lacy fight, I was narrowly tipping Green to knock Jones out, but he looked so good against Lacy that I changed my mind, and tipped a Jones decision. How wrong I was.

I thought it was, to be honest, Jones beating Lacey that bad blinded and tricked most people into thinking that Green was another Lacey.
