scraping the barrell - worst fights ever

Post by lilpyrodemon »

We have a thread praising and hailng great fights, but now it's time to speak on the fights we would have rather never paid to view or wasted our energy staying awake for.

the one that stands out in my mind right now is . . .

Lewis-Tua
Hopkins-Allen III
Hopkins-Eastman

Ali-Frazier II was also kind of a dud when compared to I and III.

Johnny Nelson v Carlos De Leon and James Warring - you'd be hard pressed to top those two for sheer mind numbing boredom.

Biggest superfight flop for me was Tito/De La Hoya. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Disasgree with lewis - tua even though it was one sided because tua always had a punchers chance. Other boring fights are

Henry Akinwande vs Scott Welch
Robin Reid vs Brian Magee
Hopkins - Eastman
Ruiz - Rahman
Naz vs Mccullough
Calzaghe vs starie

I quite enjoyed that fight actually. I thought it was a great example of how to 'shut down' a dangerous short armed slugger.

I agree about Ali -v Frazier 2! Ali just land a 1-2 combo then grabbed him all night long!! He should have been disqualified!!!!

Anything involving Ruiz sucks, except his fights with Tua (obviously), and Jones and Toney because the ref made him fight in those two.

The Foreman-Shannon Briggs robbery was a terrible fight and and even worse decision.

If we want to do Hopkins fights, Hopkins-Hakkar has to be one of the worst middleweight title fights in history.

Once saw a fight involving Michael Nunn and some horrible guy with a mullet. The guy was a cowboy type dude and a friend of Nunn's who needed the money. Didn't land a single punch and Nunn anded it around the 8th. Urgggh

Carlos De Leon - Johnny Nelson - the belt was there for Nelson's taking
Carlos De Leon - Sam Reeson
Matthew Barney - Tony Oakey

There's a few one round mismatches that were poor too, like Frank Bruno stopping Chuck Gardner.

Friday Ahunanya vs Terrence Lewis

On a FNF card about 2 years ago.

The boos drowned out the announcers.

Frank Bruno vs John Inman.

It was Inman wasn't it? I know they announced him as Emmen or something and claimed he was from the continent but I still reckon it was the guy off that alleged comedy "Are you being served". And if it wasn't, it might as well have been. He couldn't have performed any worse.

Any news on Mrs Slocum's pussy?
