Amir Khan vs Marcos Maidana - 11th December in Bolton

Post by exittored »

99% confirmed it'll be in Bolton.

if so thats great for Boxing in Greater Manchester with Haye vs Harrison in November.

No one can complain about Maidana...should be a great fight.

What's the 1%?

Very good fight. I wonder if Khan will train by running backwards? :P

They need to find somewhere suitable in Bolton as M.E.N arena is taken by Scissor Sisters on that date.

I note that FW is planning a big show at the EXCEL for the same evening...And that Khan--Maidana has gone to purse bids...

So will he try to add it to his show??

If memory serves me Amir Khan had split with allegedly to join up with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions prior to the fight with Paulie Malingaggi, so why could Warren would want add a fighter who walked out on him after he made Khan to his bill at the Excel Arena in London.

Well, FW apparently DID make an offer for Khan to fight the winner of Brook--Jennings...So apparently he's still interested in putting him on his shows...

Is this another Dempsey-Wills, or Lewis-Bowe? Khan and Roach really don't want this fight.

Fwank would definately bid,but it would be to piss Khan/Golden Boy off more than anything. He did the same with Woods-Johnson 3 after Fight Academy had taken Hatton. He even called the bill "for a few dollars more..",but ended up with a great fight live on ITV1.
Fwank is also saying he is lining up a show bigger than "The Magnificent 7" for December to celebrate 30 years promoting. And if he wins the bids,Khan wont be able to back out of it,unless he gets a "back injury".Fwank would love nothing more than Amir getting sparked on his anniversary show!

Fwank has not been slagging off Khan anywhere near as much as he did Hatton and Calzaghe when they left.

To me, it's clear Fwank still sees a future where he works with Khan.

Khan used to fight there every December. You did well to make it across the No Man's Land of a car park without wandering on to the M61.
