Massive fight for Amir, gone up in my estimations massively for this. I am back as a supporter of him now and hope he proves a lot of people wrong.

I feel Maidana may be a little overrated as a 'devastating' puncher.

But clearly he is dangerous.

I think the new Khan we have seen is too clever to get involved in risk taking; and will outbox Maidana impressivley.

27 k.os in 29 fights is pretty devastating - what would it take 29 from 29???

Great fight, can't wait for this one. Khans first dangerous test since Prescott. I fancy Khan to keep his chin out of trouble and box MM's ears off, stopping him late on

Come on King Khan!

How's he going to go through the whole fight or however long it goes without getting hit?!

Fair point - but you could argue that out of his 3 top opponents, he only stopped one (Ortiz).

Corley and Kotyelnik he could not KO.

But I agree he is definitely a big puncher.....I'm looking forward to this figt and well done Khan for fighting him

Depends on who you're knocking out.

Great fight, but with me being a cynical tosser, I can't help but feel that if Maidana looked sensational against Chop Chop then this fight wouldn't be happening. But I'm over the moon with this, and you can't knock Khan. Took care of both his mandatories. Eventually.

He couldn`t shift Kotelnik and he hit him with everything in that fight.

Of course he can bang though, question is does Khan bang him out first? Khan is not a huge puncher, but he has the speed to catch him blind and it`s the ones you don`t see that do the damage.

Risky fight this, hope he comes through it.

Agreed.

I imagine vacating the belt would have been at the forefront of their minds if Maidana knocked Corley out so bad he left on a stretcher.

Instead he looks pedestrian, goes the distance. Suddenly the fight is made in a jiffy after a year+ of Maidana screaming for his title shot.

At least it's happening. My predicition is Khan UD12 but we can always keep our fingers crossed.

Last time i looked kotelnik had never been knocked out or even floored in his whole career! So saying because he didnt ko kotelnik that means he's not that big of a puncher is silly!

It`s not silly. I acknowledged that he has has a big punch, my point was that at world level he hasn`t been knocking guys out with ease.

Khan does not have a Kotelnik chin mind, so there is no doubt in my mind that if he catches Khan he will cause him real problems.

Great news. A real test for Amir Khan. Time to see if he is as good as some say or the Bredis Prescott fight was a true indicator of his ability to take big shots. I've no doubt Khan has the better boxing ability of the two.

The only two guys he hasnt knocked out at world level are kotelnik and corley and both of those guys are pretty durable,he knocked out both ortiz and cayo who were world level operators.

Without being rude, thats kind of stating the obvious!Lol.Maidana's never going to outbox people over 12 rounds! He either knocks them out or they go the 12 rounds and win a clear decision.

I'm glad this fight has been made, I just hope it actually happens now. It's the first time since the Prescott fight that Khan has been in with someone who has genuine one-punch KO power.

Like everyone else I think Khan will walk a UD if he doesn't get tagged.

Well done Amir Khan. Taking risks, as he has done basically since losing to Prescott, and fighting yet another quality fighter.

Hopefully, this will be a presage to a unification tournament among some absolutely terrific 140 lb fighters. Khan, Ortiz, Maidana, Alexander and Bradley, and even below those guys, Lamont Peterson can come back, in my view.

Terrific stuff, and I hope Khan wins.
