how can you say that sam has come on here to defend himself after opinions have been voiced which all in all you should respect him for not jump down his throat after all this is a boxing forum, many people would hide from peoples poor opinions but sam has answered them i know both lads well and really cant believe what im reading on here at the moment.. this has taken the shine off what was a really good performance by rik turba this should be about rik and his comeback to the boxing environment.. good luck to sam and rick hope u go far together.

I think its a sham that Box Rec allows this man to log in and out of these forums under different name to try to bring down my good name, untill box rec removes this fraudster who masquerades as a genuine trainer of proffesionals, I will not take part in any more of these forums, as they contain as much genuine information as a comic book. Its a disgrace that a failed suspended trainer should be allowed to do this. if anyone else wants to slag me off on here at least be brave enough to use your real name.

In the last few years Jeffs has played a huge part @ my gym. He is with me in every corner that i do. For Gomez's fight last year against Ricky Burns Jeff assisted with his training, was one of his main sparing partners, and was in the corner with me.
This years going to be a big year for my gym with big Kenny Anderson going into big fights and a host of prospects about to make their debut. Jeff will continue to be with us all the way. The lads value his opinion, and i couldnt wish for a better right jand man on the night of the shows.
Barry McGuigan whos opinion i value more than most rates Jeff so that will do for me!

Ps Fantastic news about Turba, i had the pleasure of meeting him when Jeff brought him over to spar with Kenny, great guy with lots of ability. All the best guys

Of all the topics I have seen in my long boxing forum career, this is the most upsetting. I know Sam Betts well and he is a genuine, hardworking, successful bloke. Likewise, Jeff is a good lad. So this online fall-out is somewhat depressing and unnecessary.

Those that have chosen to take Jeff's side simply because Sam is a new poster are misguided. The fact is, they have both let themselves down here and are typically well above this level of behavior. Sort it out amicably and offline, fellas.

Roy Finlay is somebody I don't have as much time for but he was a half decent prospect and it was a pity he knocked the sport on the head. I have heard - from Jeff - that he has gone on to get a decent job and is doing okay for himself, so that is good news. If somebody has set up an account in Roy's name, they should ask for it to be deleted. It is out of order to impersonate anybody, let alone a former fighter.

As bad as it is I've seen equally/more depressing spats over the years. I'm not opposed to Sam because he 'is a new poster' if a long established poster was being such a fool I would be equally dismayed

As I’ve stated in another post I really have no idea who Roy Finlay is, I wrongly assumed he was someone only known to Jeff & Sam rather than a public figure, my intention in ‘impersonating’ Roy Finlay was to introduce some much needed humour to this increasingly acrimonious exchange (and wind up Sam/Betty )

ok jeff thats enough do not use matty as a weapon in your row with sam.1st matty started at sams gym when he was 8.the reason we moved him was because of the travelling thats all.moran was not in is corner when matty won aba tittle it was henry herbert andy sumner,and sometimes mattys grandad terry halpin,moran was in his corner when he won the novices,matty then moved to atherton cos we had some digs there for him.sam introduced matty to bryans gym and took him there alot until he settled in.sam has done quite alot for matty ie pad work,training,and hours of chatting by phone and at his house.we the askins regard the betts family ,wife, kids ,and sams mother and father as very very good friends.sam still picks matty up and takes him to different gyms to train and spars alot with turba,if or when you interview matty you had better not use it as a stick to beat sam with,cos you will not here of matty slagging him off ever,also pat does not train or coach our matty it is tommy mac bryan and jacko.i hope this puts alot of your wrong facts to bed mate,i know these facts cos im mattys dad

I understand Brian Hughes and Pat Barrett train Askin, i've never seen you in his corner once? I'm doing an interview with him for boxrec this weekend and apparently you take him on the pads every couple of weeks when you can get down. Other then that you just bring slovak down for sparring. Not really training him is it? Who was in the corner when Askin won the ABA's? Who was in the corner for all of askins amateur bouts from first to last? Andy Sumner and Tony Moran.

Rick is a very good fighter and will have fair results regardless of who walks him to the ring. Intrestingly I understand Rick goes to a strength and conditioning coach to condition himself. Seeming as he already know's how to box what input do you have? I'm bored Sam, bored of flitting from one debate to the other while I 'defend' myself against someone whose boxing achievements are zero. Other then made up participation, in name fighters careers.
