Enzo maccarinelli
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Yes it should have been stopped after the first knockdown but at the same time it may have given Enzo an excuse to carry on boxing by saying the fight was stopped too early and he could have carried on and won the fight.
At least this way he must know it's time to retire now and get out whilst he's still fit and healthy.

Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Brutal KO, no way should he have been waved on after the 1st KD. He was totally gone. He was down for what, five minutes? Couldn't even be helped up.
Needs to hang them up before he gets hurt seriously.
Haye was right in front of us, miserable git was sulking all night playing on his blackberry and refusing autographs and shaking hands with the majority of people. The only time he got off his seat all night was when Enzo came out, then he left sharpish as soon as he got sparked.

Re: Enzo maccarinelli
fully agree. I only had it on the telly but both of those I thought were badly called, should have come in earlier but then its easy to say that when all you have to do is commentate to your mates - I mean anyone not just you mate.goldenears wrote:aye even from our seat we could see he was done and the ref was right there. was disgusting.
Sexton stoppage was possibly a little late too, he was already done.
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
I'm pretty sure thats the end of him. Hope he's ok! He can be very proud of what he's done in boxing.

Enzo's OK. I was told he was cleared by the doctor to go to hospital in Swansea, rather than hang around at hospital in Birmingham. Also didn't have a broken jaw, which was feared. Very down though and was still in his dressing room not wanting to speak to anyone when I left at about 1am.
I hope it's the last time he boxes. I also hope it is the last time I see that terrible Finnish ref in a ring. He must be taken to task for neglecting his job so badly.
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Hopefully he calls it a day. That KO was as brutal as it gets. Although I love huge knockouts, seeing a great guy like Enzo get layed out in that fashion was difficult to watch. He will end up permanently damaged if he continues.
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
that ref should never be able to ref a fight again,he asked enzo did he want to continue and enzo was just standing there wobbling but he allowed him to back to get knocked out properley i was worried for his well being when i seen that shot land. enzo has a great time in boxing and has acheived so much if i was him i would just hang up his gloves and try his hand on sky tv with johnny nelson and co. well done enzo you have thrilled us all through the years
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
It really was a beautiful left hook that dropped Enzo the first time. Frenkel dips his knees and turns his entire body into a crisp and lightning fast left hook which drops Enzo and leaves him staring at the lights. Enzo gets up and comes for more and then recieves a right hand followed by another left hook which sends his head into orbit once again. Watch Frenkel when Enzo is allowed to continue. He throws 4 punches VERY FAST and they all have very extreme power behind them. That was a real frightening show of speed and power by Frenkel. Enzo is lucky he wasn't there for the last right hand because he would have been in very dire straits.

How the ref didn't see that Macca was out is a mystery to me.

Who was the ref?

A Finnish guy by the name of Erkki Meronen.bennie wrote:Who was the ref?

Oh, not him! A poor boxer and a poor ref.Deno1986 wrote:A Finnish guy by the name of Erkki Meronen.bennie wrote:Who was the ref?
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
frenkel's punch, the way he dipped down and then came up, was like a rocket.
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
the coach where I train is always getting us to do that on the pads, I manage about half the speed and power of that I reckon, amazing shot.Autobarn wrote:frenkel's punch, the way he dipped down and then came up, was like a rocket.
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
that punch might keep on getting frenkel out of trouble and will probably dent better chins than enzo's.
i hope sauerland put him in the cruiserweight super 6 after what everyone must agree is KO of the year.
beautifully delivered shot. frenkel needs to stop fighting the knockover jobs in germany and the rubbish sloooooooooow paced fights, because it seems sometimes he needs a fire lighting on his arse.

How times change, eh? When he was up and coming, he was a lovely fella, had time for everybody.orbtastic wrote:Haye was right in front of us, miserable git was sulking all night playing on his blackberry and refusing autographs
Then again, he was still like this in Germany. Maybe he was just having an off night. Or felt uncomfortable at an Allegedly show.

Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Blimey that was like two Alexander v Takaloo knockouts in one fight. Poor Enzo, he's had a good run but can't go on keep getting stopped like that. He's never had the best chin and is a nasty accident waiting to happen. I wish him well because he didn't deserve to go out like that and the ref blew it completely. He didn't even look in his eyes and make him show he was ready to continue. Where do they get some of these muppets from?
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Enzo should retire, he has had a decent career and seems to have earned well. He got a lot of exposure and had a lot of good fights, his promoters and managers did a great job for him. I thought he was only ever really at best European level, but with world class punch power. Whatever he decides good luck to him, but if anyone at that weight hits him he will go. He has always had a questionable defence and poor punch resistance. He should call it a day whilst he has all his faculties.

Re: Enzo maccarinelli
that was a pretty sickening ko last night, the corner and ref need to have a hard look at themselves for letting that carry on. i had a perfect view of Enzo as he was trying to get up and his eyes were all over the place.
The brummie football fans are absolute pains, they've been causing trouble at a few events i've been to recently. 2 of them were especially running about (blue & green top) but they ended up flat out too. i thought the guy on the mike was going to start the count for the guy in green

Re: Enzo maccarinelli
he was with about 8 guys and his wife. i got the impression they'd had a domestic. as soon as he sat down, the guys in front of us did the alright mate, good luck, knock that dickhead out stuff and asked for a photo, he seemed ok with it, even laughed but there was an endless stream of people hopping over the chairs. then whenever sky tried to get a shot of him they were all giving it the middle finger, he refused to do punditry or anything.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:How times change, eh? bit strange tbh. like i say, spent the whole night on his blackberry with his head down, didn't say a single word to his wife all night. she on other hand was the complete opposite - dancing, singing, laughing, interacting with fans.
Maybe it was cos it was a FW show, he wasn't ringside, it was outer ringside. Maybe he's just tectchy cos the fight's shortly. Maybe he is genuinely fed up with being ultra sociable and chatty. God knows what was so important he had to be on his blackberry for 4 hours solid, maybe he'd had bad news about ticket and PPV sales.
I wanted to give it the i've been a fan for a while, it cost me over 500 quid to see you knock out mormeck, could i have a photo please but honestly, his mates were just so moody and rude.

Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Fair play to Alexander Frenkel, he didn't over celebrate, and was concerned for Macca. He kept walking past and checking on his recovery.
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
was a bit ghoulish seeing macca try and fail to get up, and constantly pushing the mask away.
Re: Enzo maccarinelli
Maybe he was posting on boxrec?
