Lovemore gets a split decision

Post by Beltane »

This is the transalation from a French site of Lovemore's victory:

Lovemore N'dou has retained his IBO welterweight crown, winning a split decision not to Bongani Mwelase presented in a fight at the Palace, Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa.

The judges have submitted cards 117-112, 115-113 and 113-115.

This is a first setback in career for Mwelase in 15 fights as a pro.

The form of the Lovemore is now 48-11-2.

My Brother in law was at the fight. Apparently there was some very close rounds hense the variation in the scoring. Sounds like we all missed a belter.

The Black Panther just keeps on keeping on, a good effort for some one who should be a pensioner at that weight.

Wale Omotoso next. Good to see lovemore get a win vs a hungry fighter, the Hatton fight was a very poor showing and was probably lucky to get away with a draw.

I just watched the bout and had it, at the least, 7 to 5 Lovemore, possibly 8 to 4. I thought Lovemore won most of the early rounds up to round 8. He did seem to slow but the other guy was much younger and taller with a great reach advantage and started using it late. A great win. His camp talked up a possible bout with Isaac Hlatwatshayo back in South Africa. Another big fight for Lovemore and no doubt starting to make some decent money over there. He seems to very popular regardless who he fights. Its a pity we cant get him back in Oz for a big payday, say against.....Mundine !! I would be confident based on their last performances Lovemore would stop Choc at Junior Middle.
Anyway, we know that wont happen (the fight that is). Well done Lovemore you deserve all the success that comes your way.
