Chisora vs Sexton

Post by el_grande_mauro_mina »

I want to congratulate both of these fighters for fight of the night. (in my opinion) Chisora showed plenty of natural ability and reminds me of Tim Witherspoon in the way his physique doesn't correlate with his handspeed, footwork and stamina. He doesn't look like a guy who could do 6 rounds at pace but after Sexton started to stamp his mark on the fight, Chisora had the second gear and did what he had to do to get the win.

Sexton showed, ability, heart, courage and an excellent chin as well as one of the best jabs on a heavyweight today. He went out on his shield last night and though I have been a critic of Sexton in the past, I think he has proven that he is a championship class heavyweight. I wish him well for his future as it is bright. No shame in losing to Chisora as he has the beating of more salubrious opposition in the future.

Good post, Carlos mate.

Chisora was really impressive. You know, for a British heavy. I thought Sexton would outbox and I was wrong. Chisora's fitness was excellent.

Some of Chis's upper body movement was fantastic.

Great fight indeed. Respect to both.

Good fight. Sexton just seemed a little bit uncomfortable the whole fight, like there was a feeling of inevitability to the outcome, he seemed content to just let Chisora get his shots off and stood in front of him. His jab was good when he used it though and he did some good work early.

Loved Chis's getup for his ring entrance, not as extreme as the Executioner, but amusing all the same.

Not surprised by the outcome, there was too big a gulf in natural talent in the first fight for this to be a surprise.

Good fight, not fight of the night though - the night belonged to Clev vs Murat.

I like to Witherspoon comparisons. I would like to see Chisora move up to EBU level. I do fear he will be too small height wise when he steps up to the bigger guys, but would love to see him in EBU level.

Snowsnowski vs Chisora would be a good one, and so would Chisora vs Gomez - I'd pick Derek in both of these fights.

Chisora's upper body movement was excellent last night, not allowing Sexton to connect with his combinations, i thought after the 4th that Chisora sounded a bit deflated, but he stepped it up and just kept going winging in the punches.

i agree with the Cleverly poster above and I only saw 3 rounds of it. I also thought Maccarinelli's fight was better until the end (waste of space referee)

I had really looked forward to Chisora Sexton. I thought Sexton would win, having been in there with Rogan must have toughened him up, and I'd never seen much of Chisora that's impressed me, however..

I was real disappointed that Sexton seemed to display fitness levels more like Tyson Fury's. After 5 or 6 rounds Sexton could not work, even in short bursts, he rested then rested some more.

Chisora was well worth it. Great attitude....I thought he went off too fast but great desire, went for it, he mobility and general boxing ability impresses me, he is definitely better than I believed he was. I think he's eat Fury alive.

I thought Chisora was brilliant, head movement and combination punching he was top drawer. Sexton looks so lethargic at times as if he cant be arsed but he has plenty of talent. Hopefully Chisora gets Fury next

Derek Chisora will get Tyson Fury next as Fury is his mandatory for his Lonsdale Belt, I am not sure if it will be the end of this year, but I reckon the Board will be making the purse bids on it in the next few weeks. As for the fight itself I did like Chisora's entrance with the Union Jack gown and carrying in his Lonsdale belt into the ring, and he boxed very well in that fight he showed good handspeed and picked his shots well with plenty of power and he was starting to pull away from Sam Sexton towards the end of the fight in my opinion as I felt Chisora was regularly getting through Sexton's guard and digging some severe bodyshots in Sexton's midsection.

just got back from brum, and while watching the fight i thought sexton after round 2 he stopped throwing his right hand. His left jab was working well then after the 2nd round i thought sexton was a one handed fighter.
