Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
It`s a British disease really. Total wankers.
I have been to huge boxing nights in Germany, small hall events in Sweden and Denmark, huge thai boxing nights in Bangkok and never once seen a sniff of trouble.
I`m English, buit moved abroad when I was 20 years old and it saddens me to see that some things never changed. Growing up near Leeds, it was all about where you come from, who you are suppossed to hate etc. Just utter bollocks really.
Maybe it`s something to do with being an island race or the fact that some people have just been brought up the wrong way, but the behaviour of some of these twats is totally unacceptable.
Brits abroad are worse, terrrible. Low life chave scum. It`s embarrassing.

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
2-0 at Ipswich was a cracking result
Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
To be fair, the Blues boys were in block 6, and the trouble was in 7 where I think the welsh were. Just because it was in Brum, does not mean it was all Blues. I agree that events in Brum do attract trouble though, whoever it is from. Broadhurst came out in Claret & Blue shorts, lucky the Blues had all fcuked off by then. Footy banning orders covering boxing may be the answer.
I have a clip of the er..'fight'....with the green lad. Saw him get KTFO, but camera never caught that part. Never saw a guard go over though, and I was positioned well enough to see. What pissed me off was it shut the feckin bars.

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
That block in the corner though - huge section of Welsh fans in the middle, blues right behind them.
Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
sheffield fans supporting brook were in the next section to BCFC as you say and nothing happened so that's bollocks for a start as for the welsh they were 2 sections away a fight broke out at the back of the arena nothing to do with BCFC so everyone stands up to watch at this point the BCFC start singing Enzo gets sparked the welsh decide to cross into the section were Sheffield was and goad the BCFC lads and came unstuck no woman and deffo no kids in that section either FACT
Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
maybe time to ban alcohol sales at boxing, as it is at football?
Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
In the clip I have, you can see the fighting, and also hear blues singing "Were Birmingham City...". It is clear they are not involved in a mass brawl.
The 'racism' you mean, was it "sheep sheep sheep shagger"..? Bit of banter that mate.

Nope, and what's to stop fans from getting pissed in the boozer before a fight.sg1985 wrote:Alcohol isn't banned at football.orbtastic wrote:maybe time to ban alcohol sales at boxing, as it is at football?
Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
My mistake, I thought it was. Has some change not been made in the last 15 years or so which makes it more difficult? Matches brought forward on Saturdays?sg1985 wrote:Alcohol isn't banned at football.orbtastic wrote:maybe time to ban alcohol sales at boxing, as it is at football?
Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
Violence is something which has been with us since the dawn of humanity and always will be, it's instinctive, we are animals after all, no matter how 'civilised' we become that wild side will always be lurking inside much in the same way that a domesticated dog is still a dog and could turn on you and rip your throat out without warning.forcefraser wrote:It`s a British disease really. It's not a national thing but a natural thing and compared to most countries we're pussycats, take a look at the Italians, Spaniards, Russians and South Americans for violence and utter stupidity among sporting fans.
Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
I thought for certain "firm" games they ban alcohol sales to away fans (by effectively closing the bar in the away section), who are highly segregated and controlled (not allowed on train, coaches only, pick up tickets at service station, police escorted, limited to small numbers of fans), bring forward kick-off to 12pm etc.
I'm not a football fan, I do go from time to time but don't in any way follow it. I thought changes had been made to try and control violence between known sections of fans - control of alcohol being one of them.

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
As I said, it is clear that Blues were not in a mass brawl as they were in their block 6 singing in the clip. They sing it everywhere mate, just showing their presence, not illegal is it? Block 7 has 3 parts to it. Who was in block 7 again?Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:As far as i'm concerned it was all banter! none of us cared particularly about Enzo losing as we were there primarilty for Clev. I've been to nearly all of Clevs fights and getting called a sheep shagger comes with the teritory as he ain't fought in wales for ages so we're always traveling into England to watch him and its all good natured. but the Blues fans, as you said, we singing 'Were Birmingham City', whats that got to do with Boxing??
Be interesting to find out if there were any arrests made, and where they were from. Coppers took ages to turn up, they seemed to leave it to the security. Also, loads of lollipop lady stewards.

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
You can't drink in the arena - only on the bars surrounding the hall, although a fair few managed to smuggle plastic bottles of beer in.orbtastic wrote:maybe time to ban alcohol sales at boxing, as it is at football?
Yes, the blues fans shouldn't have waded in like they did during the major trouble but as others have said some of the Welsh contingent were up for the ruck.
It is never as clear cut as to say one set of fans are 100% to blame. The violence last night was on a par with the mini riot I witnessed at Barnes v Hare. There Leeds and Man U fans clashed in a enactment of the 'battle of the roses'.
In fact the last time there was major violence at the NEC Man U fans were involved. Does this make all Utd fans a rabid band of dogs? No.
Blues let themselves down badly last night - I fully acknowledge that - but there are plenty of other cities and football teams with long histories of violent conduct who have also behaved poorly at boxing shows.
The problem with football style violence at boxing shows doesn't begin and end at the boarders of Birmingham.

Prizefighter has always been fine. I've been to all of them but 2 or 3.MatthewS wrote:Its not like its every show though is it? I went to McDermott - Fury II and that was noisy but fine, so was Mcdermott - Williams I. Prizefighter nights also have always been very friendly as far as I have witnessed.
yeah there can be trouble at big shows but the two HW shows I mentioned above would have seemed certainties for a bit of trouble but nothing happened.
Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
so one of the differences between trouble at the footy and at the boxing is that security at a football match is all under one firm, plus the old bill, and am i right in saying that at boxing we have multiple security organisations being paid for from multiple sources, and no police prescence? I dont think it helps that apart from the ring everything else is unlit. Football stadia are in a sense built for the purpose of crowd control, boxing venues are multiple use.
Plus at footy its quite easy to keep home and away factions apart in the arena nowadays but at boxing there may be upwards of 5 or 6 large distinct contingents... why not bring in elements from other events - each person can only buy two adult tickets (like at festivals but you could still take your little ones then) - no alcohol in the venue whatsoever - All tickets to feature the name and address of the purchaser and to be kept on the bearers person at all times during the event.
surely our prestigious promoters would suffer the added rigmarole to help with safety?

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
Listen guys these things happen at the boxing events, It's not down to Frankie and it's not all his fans!! His fans caused no trouble in Liverpool, west Ham and other various venues it's usually the minority, I personally witnessed Amirs friends and fans nearly kill a guy in Bolton right in front of my mrs shoving her out the way to jump on a guys head!! Do you blame Amir for that?? of course not.. Like I said it's just a minority..
We should focus on the positives of last night and that we have had a few of our fighters go onto bigger and better things..

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
I'd say the bigger bills attract the gobshite fun boys who plan it as a night out and the boxing is just their backdrop for the night. They are out to get smashed bladdered and nothing else.
Scum of the earth really.

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
you always seem to see some skinheaded muppet walking round with a bloodied nose at these big shows, loads of general tossers, scumbags and their classy molls done up to the 9s.... the kind of tarts that if they're not scratching or pulling someone's hair they're goading their knuckle-draggin bloke into a fight.
It was only the logistics of accommodation that put me off going last night and yesterday aft. I was (typically) starting to wish I had.......taken the Mrs and made a nice weekend in Birmingham of it.
The truth is, large scale boxing is not really fit for human consumption. It's no place to take your woman....I'd have even felt embarrassed taking mates to that who have only a passing interest in the sport.
I'll certainly not attend a show in Birmingham - ever.....and I doubt I'll bother with any big shows for a long time.
It's utterly pathetic and unacceptable and the whole siuation needs seriously addressing!
On the other hand.....I was present for a similarly large scale event in Ireland 3 years ago (Bernard Dunne show)......it was the best atmosphere I have ever experienced at boxing and I did not see or hear about one iota of bother.

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
Bloody good post and yep completely agree with the comment with regards it needing sorting. However the type of people that boxing attracts means the "stewarding" of the fans and the necessity to bring it under control means the cost of it going to the promoter - unfortunately boxing will not be able to stand that cost.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:you always seem to see some skinheaded muppet walking round with a bloodied nose at these big shows, loads of general tossers, scumbags and their classy molls done up to the 9s.... the kind of tarts that if they're not scratching or pulling someone's hair they're goading their knuckle-draggin bloke into a fight.

Re: Trouble at Mag 7 ?
well i really enjoyed the show last night, the only problem i had really was having to leave b4 frankie gavin fought, to get the last train back to new street. And the ref who let enzo carry on was shocking.
I think wazza has to keep putting shows on like this maybe 3/4 times a year but not in brum, been to many shows around the uk and twice been to brum and the air in the arena is not good you always have a feeling it is ready to go off and it has done now. not good![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)
