Yep he showed a lot of class and that has to be applauded, he should earn a lot of respect for his reaction in the aftermath of the KO, very classy. Classy KO punch too!

Enzo's OK. I was told he was cleared by the doctor to go to hospital in Swansea, rather than hang around at hospital in Birmingham. Also didn't have a broken jaw, which was feared. Very down though and was still in his dressing room not wanting to speak to anyone when I left at about 1am.

I hope it's the last time he boxes. I also hope it is the last time I see that terrible Finnish ref in a ring. He must be taken to task for neglecting his job so badly.
That's a relief. After the fight I was having a drink and saw Enzo wheeled out on a hospital bed towards the ambulance, before security shut the curtain. He looked in a bad way. Very pleased to here he is ok. Such a shame as he was doing well to that point.

Serious questions have to be asked about the ref who should of stopped the fight when Macc took 9 seconds to get to his feet. I just hope he calls it a day you cant keep getting knocked out in the fashion he has over the last 3 years.

Ince should have threw the towel and the ref shouldn't have led him into the final barrage!! Enzo couldn't even walk forward!! I was gutted for the big man and it was a terrible knockout but the main thing is he is OK and knew exactly what had happened when I spoke to him!!

Enzo has been a true credit to the sport and has given british boxing some amazing thrills and spills!! I hope he's rememberd for them and not just the losses.. :TU:

Enzo comes across as a really decent fella. I wish him all the best.

He does have a large family though and will need to earn some coin in the future, which may see him tempted to step back into the ring or even MMA.

If you look at his losses (apart from the early loss to Swaby) then he has lost to Haye, Afolabi, Lebedev and now Frenkel. It basically means he hasn`t beaten any quality opposition at all. Perhaps Braithwaite is the exception.

It tells a story that Enzo just wasn`t a top level fighter in reality. Every time he fought a quality opponent he has not only lost, but been brutally stopped by all 4.

It's easy to scope through someone's record and say he beat nobody, He beat a good fighter in Hobson,Dominguez and I had him winning last night, let's not forget he was winning against Afolabi too, Enzo is a high level operator and deserves credit, He has tried time and time again.. We should look at the pluses and try to put the negatives in a box..

His style leaves him vulnerable, but he always went down fighting, this is what we all love about him. What heart he has, even when he was completely out of it he went forwards. He is a popular man amongst fans, I would like to see him doing punditry as said above.

Glad to hear Enzo is okay.

Sickening KO and a shocking decision by the ref to allow him to continue after the knockdown. Agree with whoever said the corner should have chucked the towel in if the ref wasn't prepared to stop it.

Think he's got to hang the gloves up now but would like to see him continue in the sport in a different capacity as has already been mentioned.

Enzo suffered from his own mentality.. sitting at home fighting bums and nobodies defending a WBU belt and believing the hype that he was "world class". If he had of went to America after the Swaby loss and worked his ass off, he could have been something good. He has the kind of style that could have been developed further along with very decent power at world level. However, he was happy to sit on a WBU belt fighting bums and when he stepped up he got embarrassed every time.

Agree with both a bit, I sit somewhere in-between the 2. For me Enzo has done well to get through his career with a bad chin. In that respect he received some great protection from allegedly who made him some excellent matches at the right time to manoevre him into the WBO title. But you can't deny Enzo won a lot of fights in his run to the WBO title and not once was his chin really badly exposed until the Haye fight. The Swaby fight was an early warning of his bad chin, which then came back to haunt him when he stepped up into true euro/world class with Haye/Lebedev.

He has given us great entertainment, he has been a good servant to Warren's cards and I always looked forward to Enzo fights, so I say well done Enzo for providing such entertainment, but fact of the matter is he was never really a world level operator in my eyes and the WBO title very much flattered him. A good euro level guy in his prime, but sadly that prime is now long gone.

Enzo was such a brave fighter, I feel that what he did after Haye was maybe try and become more cagey, try and protect his chin more, but that didn't work either cos he gassed badly against Afolabi so maybe he didn't have 12 good rounds in his tank anymore?

Enzo does get credit from me, but I think he needs to seriously consider his future now. He has taken some brutal knockouts and his stamina looks to be on the decline. I also had him in front last night, but that left hook was coming and it was just a matter of time.

I wouls have loved Enzo to have got the win and a final pay day in a title shot, but imagine what would happen if they put him in with someone like Marco Huck? It would be dangerous.

Only saw it the once and thought he had his wits about him. Must have been wrong. You won't see many more savage ko's than that.
I thought he was clearly on very wobbly legs and letting him continue there was an absolute disgrace. He had a similar look there to that which he had in the David Haye fight which was thankfully stopped.
exactly what i thought, i was in the back row and could see he was all over the place, the ref should never have let him continue and should be brought before some sort of disiplinary, enzo really could have been seriously injured

never like bringing this up, but enzo looked like michael watson getting up in the chris eubank rematch, a fight that obviously ended very badly for watson. heavy left hook knockdown, very sudden, head/neck hits ropes. then gets up, bravely, but out of the fight and unable to defend.

That's a harrowing thought. Both for Enzo and the sport, which would really struggle to survive such an instance

What a load of rubbish, Enzo stayed in his dressing room until around 1am and then walked back to the hotel (NEC Crowns Plaza) spoke to a couple of people and went to his room. Not once was he wheeled to an ambulance :shame: :shame:

I have no axe to grind with Enzo, I think he's a top bloke and I have no reason for lying. I saw him looking dazed and being wheeled towards an ambulance before the curtain shut. Perhaps he didn't need it, got up and went to his dressing room after that (and stayed there until 1am), it wasn't too long after the fight that I seen him. Whatever, I'm just glad that he's ok.

I keep on hearing Enzo had a bad chin, personally I think it was more the manner of shots he'd take and how exposed he'd leave himself at times. Last night's KO and the Afolabi KO were courtesy of thunderous punches, both of which he got up from. Haye's power goes without saying and Lebedev battered him senseless before it was called.

As for him retiring or continuing, that's his call, he did well to get himself back into that fight after it looked as though Frenkel would be too much for him early on. I really think if he could've seen that fight through and gotten the win it would've turned the page for him and ended what seemed like a bad patch stretching back to the Haye loss.

I'd like to see him bow out, but I'm not in his shoes.

What people need to remember is that Enzo was winning the fight, I hope he does retire and then does promotion for FW in Wales. He has always had the KO or be KO'd persona about him, the punches he took on Saturday (especially the 3 after the first knock down) were very damaging and IMHO the ref should have called a halt to the fight.

yesterday i made predictions on Brook Jennings, Sexton Chisora and Degale Dilks....and you certainly can't knock getting 1 out of 3 right :OhYes:

i said the other fights I didn't know the opponent (Cleverly, Hall...and sumone else, I forget who), or that I just wasn't interested, here, I singled out Maccarinelli's fight.

Truth is, as Rhodes was to Hamed, Maccarinelli (thru no fault of his own bless him) was the lesser light to Joe Calzaghe....but yet he used to beat a very similar drum. Pryce for example, I never had a problem with, used to love to follow the lad....put a beautiful little Commonwealth run together, notably beating Duran....but then Pryce never used to give it the "world-beater" talk. Anyway, point is, in the end I got a bit fed up of listening to Enzo. Plus I saw him in the street the day he lost to Afolabi and he looked a bit of a moody fcker.

I'm not here to diss Enzo Mac, far from it. I admire the man, guts and talent in spades. He impressed me so much with his boxing versus Braithwaite that I confidently tipped him to stop Haye late on....

Anyway, just to set the record straight, long b4 the brutal end came yesterday courtesy of that fcking waste of space in charge who deserves a taste of his own medicine, Enzo had won me over again.

Almost from the first bell Big Mac impressed me with his skills, power, fitness .....bearing in mind I'd just sat through 9 rounds of an, insufficiently fit in my book, Sam Sexton.

Enzo was suddenly a breath of fresh air. I said as much to my Mrs. I still believe he is world class in terms of the level he can compete at.....only that would be unwise now I think. I just really wanted to come on here and take my hat off to the lad, he has given excitement in spades and he is a real warrior, no doubt

I would say this though, I think Enzo Mac loads up FAR TOO MUCH. This is reflected in the stat that he has STOPPED 20 opponents inside the first 3 rounds, and I am told went into last night's fight on the back of 3 consecutive first round wins.....I was only aware of the one in Russia before that was pointed out.

I think Enzo is a danger to himself because he must have been 4 or 5 rounds up in my opinion last night and yet he was going for it big time. Why????? Theother guy was clearly feeling the pace. Enzo did not IMO need to be going looking for him with such power shots. That stoppage could have occurred quite easily in the 8th 9th 10 or 12th round in favour of Frenkel, and maybe with more tragic consequences. Enzo's approach last night seemed to be to bang the man out as quickly as possible. His fitness was amazing....he lived up to his "shape of his life claims" made in the press conference, unlike say, Sexton, who admitted for Chisora 1 he hadn't really trained. Enzo's desire and cojones were superb, but he could have stepped off the gas last night and cruised to victory....Instead, he gave a clearly less fit, and waning opponent, the only real chance he had to win, which was to keep jumping in and out and letting the lad try to throw bombs.....which eventually landed, as we all saw. Like Amir says...you can't go in the shower and not get wet.

I give Enzo Mac great plaudits for last night's display, it was a super effort until the untimely end. I can't help thinking however that he had a significant part to play in his own demise in the fight last night (obviously setting the issue of the INEPT ref to one side.

What do others think??

Get well soon Enz; and best of luck for the future, whatever you decide :box: :box: :TU:
