i have said i haven't seen much evidence of Clev showing the boxing skills lurky is talking about. he has been a swarmer for the past several fights.

how is that contradicted by 7 stoppages out of 8?

do you mean, it seems it is working for him so why change it?

exactly my point, really.
Sorry I thought your saying he should change the way he is fighting, all I am saying is that he did used to box more but got no stoppages, the last 8 fights he has been coming forward and yes swarming them but he is now KO'ing people.

Only just had a chance to watch the weekend's fights. Cleverly's performance was good, but the stoppage was shite. The Degale stoppage wasn't good either.

no probs mate thought that was what you meant, 'why change a winning formula' makes sense to me.

at least, when he's not fighting a Bellew-type puncher

I think Cleverly is the real deal. I love watching him fight. Really punishing puncher, but with sound fundamentals. I think he has the potential to go further than Froch, unless he gets seduced by his power, and forgets entirely about his boxing skills.

Early in his career, he wasn't really sitting on his punches, and consequently, had to fight with a more cautious approach. Now he's breaking people up with sustained aggression.

His punch picking is beautiful - and he puts the shots together very well.

If he continues to develop, he looks world class inside of 18 months, he may be world class already.

unless someone cracks that chin.

definitely is great raw material and with right fights at right time can become a title holder.

i can see why he wants pascal, because pascal also has an energetic and reckless style.
