The early bouts shown in some records of Johnny Basham before he met Fred Dyer in january 1910 were in local boxing competitions with the winner receiving a cup or medal.Basham who never fought outside England and his native Wales engaged in numerous exhibition bouts particulary when a serving soldier and one in one of thesein january 1921 at Newport was with Tommy Burns ex. world heavyweight cham.

have same competition bouts in their records.
