Am I Alone In The World?
I watched the Klitschko - Peter fight the other week and really enjoyed it - and no I'm not a German/Ukrainian!
Vladimir gave a classic display of hitting without being hit. I thought he was defensively superb. Offensively, he was sound, very accurate with the jab and laterly with the right hand.
Is there something wrong with me? Do I need to up the dosage?

Lol i kind of agree with you mate,If you love pure boxing then you have to like the klitschko's as they're very good technicians. They are very conservative though which doesnt make them entertaining really to watch.keithmoonhangover wrote:I watched the Klitschko - Peter fight the other week and really enjoyed it - and no I'm not a German/Ukrainian!

Re: Am I Alone In The World?
I like how both the Klits fight but they do serve up some boring fights with the odd dirty tactic.
I spent most of the fight saying why isn't the ref stopping Wlad for leaning. It clearly gives an unfair advantage as it's strength draining and it's not like he thew any punches when he was doing that. If he got rid of that I'm sure more of the fights would be more entertaining and a little less one sided. Also add in a better oppenent

Re: Am I Alone In The World?
it was horrible, all that holding.
wlad is only there to negate and only several rds after he has completely negated someone will he open up, and even then you can see the anxiety.
i enjoyed vitali battering peter with combos.

Can't agree it was an absoloute stinker - the only thing that made it bareable was I had round 10 in the sweepstake
Re: Am I Alone In The World?
He is a very good and powerful boxer but a in a real boxing exhibition both boxers are of pretty similar stature. It must be much easier to jab and cross with a 6 inch reach (or more) reach differential. The master boxers are shorter than their fierce rivals and must use pure skill against the strength and physical advantage of their opponent; IMO

Just like watching Henry Maske on RTL in the early 1990s - boring fighter with a similar, defensive jabbing style but he packed the stadiums out. Why - who knows?
Ja - Henry is mein gut! Is der fantaschitien boxen - wunderbar!
I would rather mow the lawn.

Remember reading somewere it did got over 200k viewers on Sky Sports, probably abit misleading as Booth was on the same broadcast, but it is pretty good. Think of top of my head only Harrison vs Sprott has done more of recent times and Harrison in the prize fighter... Dont quote me on this though.

I do try to watch all the klit fights, but they just don't do it for me,whether it's because they are so much better than the opponent,or whether they are average and the opposition is poor i'm not sure, but the last time vitali was in an exiting fight for me was against lewis, and wlad against sanders, they are very good at what they do,no doubt about that but they send me to sleep.

This.King Geedorah wrote:Germans like the W. It is all about winning for them and the Klits are the ultimate winners. The Germans are also sex fiends so I guess that seeing a 6' plus Klit holds a deeper meaning for them.
Seriously though, yeah they aren't very interesting to watch but they get the job done, sport is about winning and the best way to win is to use your strengths even if it doesn't appeal to many people(though in the case of the Klitschkos it clearly does as they wouldn't sell out every arena otherwise).
Re: Am I Alone In The World?
It will be difficult to do that. There really isn't any heavyweight, aside from Haye, who has the attributes to trouble them. Adamek is small and does not have a lot of power, Povetkin is smaller, blocks punches with his face, and just walks forward in a straight line, Boystov is small and very green, and the list goes on like this.ourkid1984 wrote:I like how both the Klits fight but they do serve up some boring fights with the odd dirty tactic.

I enjoyed this fight. Wlad put on a great display of boxing and used his advantages perfectly. It shows how much he has improved since the first Peter fight.
I would argue that Peter was responsible for a lot of the holding. Wlad did do his fair share in the middle rounds, but in the last couple of rounds it was Peter who was initiating the clinches. As far as the leaning goes, I'm not sure there is anything illegal about that, although I may be wrong.
