Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
I dunno, I think it's believable. The brothers are obviously keen to be very active — and fair play to them, I wish Haye would do the same — and there is only a finite number of opponents they haven't already faced. Is Chisora any worse a pick than Sosnowski? I'd argue probably not, though Albert would have brought a large Polish element to the gate.
In Germany, for the moment at least, it doesn't matter who the opponent is, particularly in Wlad's case. They just want to see the Klitschkos fight (God love 'em). I'm sure Chisora is on their radar at the moment, simply because they are having trouble finding enough opponents to fit the busy fight schedules of two champions.

And who are these guys who were so badly beaten that their careers were over afterwards? I know what you're getting at, but I think you're exaggerating a little.mugabi wrote:Have you seen the kind of extended slow and steady beatdowns Klitchko hands out before the concussive knockout. He's won me over.
Yeah apart from the biting and the kissing he comes across as very likeable - unfortunatley he's just an average boxer nothing to really get excited about. It really is a shame (not for Audley though) that he can't fight Harrison now.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Good boxer, but needs to do something with his PR. Brings something to the game yes, but I really don't think he will ever be a fans favourite with his attitude out of the ring. Its amazing that in the ring he is a good and exciting fighter to watch.
When being interviewed it looks like he just doesn't give an eff. And that little smug smile whenever he is being interviewed - does my head in, no matter what he actually says. The lack of remorse for the Butlin incident was out of order.
Its a bit like Audley, even though Audley has been saying some correct things of late - the fact he has to stare down the Camera to do it, ignoring the interviewer just puts me right off. Its rude.

Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
In fairness, he showed a lot more movement vs Sam Sexton than those guys showed against Wladimir Klitschko. Chambers, Peter, Chagaev etc all looked pretty handy against other opponents.carlbcfc wrote:He showed a lot more movement last week, than most of Wlads recent opponents, who just stood there and got jabbed to death.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Its not supposed to be in Germany though. The sceptic in me thinks early plug for the date - dec 11th.... early plug for Derek Chisora "knocking on the door of a world title fight".Glyn Leach wrote:I dunno, I think it's believable. We had it so many times with Danny Williams / Skelton / Harrison etc back on ITV. One fight from a world title. So excuse my continued scepticism.
I'm sure Wlad will have someone in the WBO/IBF rankings, there is plenty of poor fighters there to choose from. Your right it could be Butterbean and it will sell in Germany, so why make it someone half dangerous. Mormeck I heard was in the running, Banks would be an easy fight to make, how about Boystov, Solis etc.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Let me put it this way Oliver which of them did anything of note again on world title level?oliverfennell wrote:And who are these guys who were so badly beaten that their careers were over afterwards? Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Or could it be it's another star-struck "just happy to have the chance" contender who is more than happy to take the title shot and not worry about the short end of the money stick being proffered or what the contract is? It's probably also worth nothing Chisora has no one punch KO power either.stujones wrote:Its not supposed to be in Germany though. Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Yeah, that's why I said I know what you're getting at, but how much has Chisora achieved at world level so far? That's my point - nothing to lose. I can hear the argument that a beating could cut short what he might do at world level, but then again he might not do that anyway, so it's worth the gamble IMO.mugabi wrote:Let me put it this way Oliver which of them did anything of note again on world title level?oliverfennell wrote:And who are these guys who were so badly beaten that their careers were over afterwards? Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
More I think of it, this could make sense. Warren has his 30th anniversary show at the ExCel on 11th Dec, Wlad-Chisora in Germany, Sky would like that as a PPV.
Or maybe Frank might want to really push the boat out for his anniversary. But it would cost an awful lot for it to make financial sense to Wlad to fight in Britain. That said, might be worth gambling on a PPV split with Wlad — would probably still be a better earner than Magnificent Seven was for Warren. Maybe Britain could work.

Excel not big enough if Wlad comes over. Won't Khan be part of PPV? Did Magnificent 7 flop on PPV?Glyn Leach wrote:More I think of it, this could make sense. Warren has his 30th anniversary show at the ExCel on 11th Dec, Wlad-Chisora in Germany, Sky would like that as a PPV.

Could it help further hype a fight with Haye for next year???Glyn Leach wrote:More I think of it, this could make sense. Warren has his 30th anniversary show at the ExCel on 11th Dec, Wlad-Chisora in Germany, Sky would like that as a PPV.

Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Don't think the venue size is that important in financial terms, the gate is only an extra — plus ExCel is already sorted. Yes, you could get a few thousand more somewhere else, but it's the TV money that will dictate whether the fight is financially viable. Wlad will already have the German PPV revenue, so coming to Britain and getting a slice of British PPV, if Warren were willing to give it up, would be a nice extra. All depends if they can negotiate it, there would have to be considerable give and take, but it could make sense for all concerned.
It could definitely help Wlad in the PR war Lenny, don't you reckon? Coming into Haye's backyard, literally, and selling out while Haye has to go to Manchester to draw a big crowd. Would also be a coup for Warren.

Well if its in the UK, Warren will try and push it to happen and it will be a great move for Wlad as obviously fighting in a huge market like the UK, but i still think its a bad move for Chisora
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Surely wlad sure fight someone more deserving of shot!
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
He would be stupid not to take this. I think the boxing world is ready for an upset! and it aint going to happen with haye and fraudley (touch wood). So I think he should take this, train like a demon and go for broke! put all the chips in and see if his number comes up.

This is a post from the Current Scene. Decent summary of all the top heavyweights..leforge wrote:Surely wlad sure fight someone more deserving of shot!
Tunney wrote:Wladimir Klitschko's options are few for his December 11 opponent. His management has contacted the promoters of both up-and-comer Derek Chisora and James Toney, who has been calling out the Klitschkos for years.
- Tua wants to wait until 2011, have a warm-up first then fight Wlad
- Mormeck was considered only as a last resort, but he doesn't want the fight until 2011 anyway
- Adamek wants to wait until March 2011 by which time he will likely be WBO mandatory
- Solis wants to wait for a mandatory shot at Vitali
- Valuev is having surgery
- Arreola is injured
- Boytsov is coming off surgery
- Povetkin is afraid of Wlad
- Dimitrenko wants to fight a Klitschko in 2011 in a big Ukrainian event
- Ibragimov is scheduled for October, and not ranked by the WBO or IBF
- Banks is Wlad's best friend and it would be a mismatch
- Chagaev, Thompson, and Chambers have already been stopped in fights with Wlad

What like the westham ground?ourkid1984 wrote:No reason not to take it.
Don't think he will win or even come close but it's worth it for the money and press he will receive. I don't think it will happen though. The Klits like to fight in Germany in stadiums not in a relatively small venue in England.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
West ham ground shit the area awful also weather in December is bad. Cardiff as millenium has roof have cleverly in world title could do well if tickets are reasonable.kingfinn wrote:What like the westham ground?ourkid1984 wrote:No reason not to take it.

I reckon the klits would get a big crowd in the UK on a one off but i'd say they would be better of staying in Germany for it.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
He should take it. If he wins it he is world champ in front of Haye and calling the shots.kevo wrote:Seems all you need for a HW title shot these days is a win over a domestic class opponent.
If he loses, well he was expected to lose, so he loses nothing and might learn in the process. He would get a few quid too. Risk v Reward, he has got to take it!
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
If he takes this fight, he is basically being paid to get murdered. Heavyweight boxing gets worse and worse.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
If it's a showcase fight and the opponent doesn't really matter i can't see why they would take Chisora.
Go for a name alone in that case such as Holyfield or a German based HW Dimitrenko or any of the upcoming young 'uns.
