Rocky was never going to last into his mid 30s because of his style. The crouch his hard on the body as was his all-action style.

I like Brockton’s assessment. I think if Marciano is in the right mental state to continue (i.e. motivated in training camp) then I think he may have been okay for a while longer.

And had he fought Liston he’d have lasted longer in defeat than Paterson did in two fights.

This is very true, Marciano said he had or was born with a bad spine. He had tremendous back issues. Which lead to his early retirement. If Fully healthy & somehow healed who knows. In modern times they could of probably made his career last longer with modern advancements in spinal care.

Floyd was one of the most advanced "looking fighters" when he hit the scene. He looked exactly how I would imagine a golden gloves boxer to look like. He was just so fast, it would of been an epic fight for the ages. I'm a big fan of Floyd Patterson he would of surely been the fastest fighter Marciano faced & marciano would be the oldest he ever was...in that fight. I don't think Floyd's chin would hold up but Rocky might be bad shape by the time a KO punch came.

I suspect Patterson. He dealt with Moore easily and in that fight he’s just so much faster and fresher. A prime Rocky would likely stop Patterson but the Rocky of say 56/57 was struggling with both back problems and motivation.

Patterson was the next big thing after Marciano, but despite being younger, faster and more technical than Rocky, Patterson was too fragile. Marciano would wreck Floyd.

I guess, Rocky's team wouldn't delay the Liston bout that long, as Patterson's management did, so Rocky could fight Liston earlier, than the Liston-Patterson bout had actually taken place.

Liston would be too much for Rocky, especially the aged version of Marciano.

I have to agree it would have been Liston. Folley and Machen were terrific boxers but I don't think their chins would withstand Marciano's power. Cleveland Williams had the size and power of a Liston but I don't think Cleveland would have been durable enough to beat Marciano.
