Yeah but that is the thing these days. The HW division is the worst it has ever been, In fact boxing has never been worse. Ive stopped buying Boxing News, I dont even know half the rankings, the best very seldom fight the best and apart from the very top fighters the level of talent is shocking.clopixolacuphase wrote:If he takes this fight, he is basically being paid to get murdered. I am more disinterested in Boxing now than I have ever been. Apart from the very top fighters pro boxing has a very amatuerish feel to it these days.
Shit fights and the majority of the punters that go to see it havent got a clue as to what they are watching or paying for.
Out of curiosity I am going along to an unlicenced show next week to see how they do it. They might not be the best fighters but I have a feeling the matches might be a bit more even, and the headline fight features two blokes who truly detest each other.
Well see but at the end of the week I would rather buy the investors chronicle than Boxing News.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Don't expect too much. You'll find unlicenced has bigger mis-matches, usually some big musclebound geezer whos taken far too many steroids against an ex-pro who's had to retire due to eye problems. 99 per cent of the time the ex-pro does him with his first punch within 20 seconds or the 1 percent of the time the ex-pro hasn't trained for a few months and has had a beer and it takes him a couple of minutes to knock the otherfella out. You get some incredible knobs there who not content in watching total mis-matches want to have there own. And the beer is about 4 pound a pint, have a good time :(McCannW14 wrote:Yeah but that is the thing these days. The HW division is the worst it has ever been, In fact boxing has never been worse. Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
What has he to lose? Nothing and he would give Klitschko a better fight than most of those he has fought in recent bouts. Go for it Chisora.
Klitschko only wants Chisora to try to beat him well and in turn make a mockery of the British fighters, which will piss off Mr Haye

Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
How about Haye & Chisora take the Klits on, on the same night? (or maybe a tag-team?
)
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
The Klitschkos apparently don't want to fight Holyfield. Dimitrenko would ask for much more than they're offering Chisora, I think.Shirow wrote:If it's a showcase fight and the opponent doesn't really matter i can't see why they would take Chisora.
Go for a name alone in that case such as Holyfield or a German based HW Dimitrenko or any of the upcoming young 'uns.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Be good experience for Chisora plus he can bob and weave unlike a few of wlads recent opponents. Its not like he's going to get a complete smashing, he could stand still with his hands behind his back and wlad would find a way to take 8 rounds to ko him.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
A KO in the first would be less damaging than a sustained beating, though. Funnily enough, Sosnowski might be even better for his loss against Vitali. He looked pretty good (as in, much better than most thought he would) and probably has quite a bit of confidence now, stemming from that. Not to mention the experience.kingfinn wrote:Be good experience for Chisora plus he can bob and weave unlike a few of wlads recent opponents. Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
He just needs to get a big lad in sparring throwing a jab at him for the next 8 weeks. Dodge that and get inside and your almost there.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Wlad has an invisible perimeter around him. Once you breach that he will hug you.carlbcfc wrote:He just needs to get a big lad in sparring throwing a jab at him for the next 8 weeks. Dodge that and get inside and your almost there.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Look at the way Brewster finished Wlad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5Lf_wXLPkg And remember how Chisora finished Sexton #2.Asterix wrote:Wlad has an invisible perimeter around him. He can hug all he likes, but Chisora is does land accurately while in that position. If he cracks Wlad on that chin he will wobble.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Wlad's style has changed since that fight. He gave Brewster free shots that he wouldn't now.carlbcfc wrote:Look at the way Brewster finished Wlad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5Lf_wXLPkg And remember how Chisora finished Sexton #2.Asterix wrote:Wlad has an invisible perimeter around him. Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
I think Manny might have got through to Wlad. He finished off Peter quite nastily where you would expect him to one/two him to the final bell.
Bizarrely enough 2 mins after reading this thread i walked out of the office and bumped into Derek. Had a brief chat and quizzed him on the fight.
Needless to say he's all for a Queensbury Travel/Boxrec Germany adventure. He gave me his number so as soon as the venue is arranged i'll get things moving.

How weird, did you ask him if he needed travel arrangements?! Sounds a great excuse for a Christmas time trip over to Germany.Shirow wrote:I think Manny might have got through to Wlad. He finished off Peter quite nastily where you would expect him to one/two him to the final bell.

I'm afraid it'll be a car crash of a fight - Wlad being the bus and Del Boy the reliant Robin.
"You don't enter the Indianapolis 500 with a Volkswagen" as Ron Stander's wife said after the Joe Frazier fight.

I'm sure that what Eddie Chambers thought and he had the best possibel preperation for a Vlad fightcarlbcfc wrote:He just needs to get a big lad in sparring throwing a jab at him for the next 8 weeks. Dodge that and get inside and your almost there.
There are jabs and then there are Vlad jabs
If this fight happens it will be Vlad KO/TKO 2. 1st round he will do his jabathon, 2nd round he will drop the right on Chisora and get him out of there. In his last 3 fights that ive seen its by the 2nd round that he has taken the soul away from his opponents and I expect that to be the case again
If Vlasd does win I hope he does a Drago-esque interview for the cameras aftewards. As long as Haye disposes of Audley, Haye v Klit could do Mayweather/Hatton PPV levels with the right promotion.
Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Wlad is a much better fighter now, and Chisora hasn't done anything to suggest he is on the same level as a prime Brewster. If any of Wlad's opponents land flush he would be wobbled, the problem is it is very hard to do that. And to the guy who said he can't see why Chisora was chosen as an opponent, you have to think a little harder. Chisora is a fast, small, big talking British heavyweight--just like Haye. It would be like someone fighting the 6'7 Ukranian Dimitrenko to 'prepare' for a Kitschko.carlbcfc wrote:Look at the way Brewster finished Wlad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5Lf_wXLPkg And remember how Chisora finished Sexton #2.Asterix wrote:Wlad has an invisible perimeter around him. Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
Aren't all Wlads fights free to air in Germany? There is no PPV revenue and their contract with RTL is stitched up already meaning the gate revenue and international TV buys are the only variable income streams. Coming to a smaller venue in the UK (Wlad - Chisora would be a weaker draw to an attending audience than was Haye v Ruiz) would be financial suicide for all involved.Glyn Leach wrote:Don't think the venue size is that important in financial terms, the gate is only an extra — plus ExCel is already sorted. Yes, you could get a few thousand more somewhere else, but it's the TV money that will dictate whether the fight is financially viable. Wlad will already have the German PPV revenue, so coming to Britain and getting a slice of British PPV, if Warren were willing to give it up, would be a nice extra. All depends if they can negotiate it, there would have to be considerable give and take, but it could make sense for all concerned.
It could definitely help Wlad in the PR war Lenny, don't you reckon? Coming into Haye's backyard, literally, and selling out while Haye has to go to Manchester to draw a big crowd. Would also be a coup for Warren.

Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
this is very interesting, im 50/50 on weather chisorsa should take the bout.
hes 14-0 (9) and Wladimir is 55-3 (49).
derik has nothing to loose but what if he takes a bad one sided beating and never box the same again, if i was him id fight a contender, someone like eddie chambers or david tua in a eliminater for the world title.
but allegedly knows best and if it goes ahead i hopes theres a new champ !!!!!!

Re: Chisora offered Vladimir!
As I see it, Chisora would have a hard enough time beating top contenders like Chambers, and the pay day he would get against them would be nothing compared to what he would make against Wlad. Even if Chisora is brutally knocked out, and never the same, he could make more money in one fight against Wlad than he could in ten fights againt much lower ranked guys who are not massve money generators. I personally don't think Chisora will ever win fights at the highest level, no matter how much more experienced he becomes.biglefthook wrote:this is very interesting, im 50/50 on weather chisorsa should take the bout.

If Chisora won this fight, would it be the biggest upset in boxing history? I think it might be. Wladimir is a highly respected, long-serving champion who seems to be at his peak, while Chisora is generally regarded as a light punching novice who has no experience on the world stage. It would certainly be a bigger upset than Ali-Spinks and Tyson-Douglas.

Well technically, maybe, but no way it would come even close to making the front pages worldwide like the above two.nobby_nobbins wrote: It would certainly be a bigger upset than Ali-Spinks and Tyson-Douglas.
Chisora is definitely in for a brutal beating - not sure he'll even be paid all that. The Klit bros are known to keep most the of the cash, and call all the shots, and Del boy has near zero leverage in this fight - Wlad may as well be fighting Rodney Trotter for all the difference it'd make.
