Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas. 4th December 2010.
Re: Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas. 4th December 2010.
This is gonna be a tough fight for Yassine, Colas has a md decision loss to Konecny, who lets face it done a number on Hall. They wouldn't bring him over if they didn't fancy El Maachi beating him though.

Re: Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas. 4th December 2010.
This is by miles Yassines toughest fight to date. At 31 years of age we need to move on. The Colas team think Yassine is just a warm up thats why they have taken it. We will now see if Yassine is the real deal. On these forums he has been called a "hype job".
In this fight Yassine will be out to prove he is more than that. This is a fantastic fight for a non TV show and we hope the public gets behind the show and Yassine.

Steve for me that looks a good fight. I just hope that the undercard isnt as bad as the last one that though that was shocking.

Re: Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas. 4th December 2010.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. We had really positive feedback that for a non TV show it was very good. A couple of the undercard bouts would be top of the bill at some small hall shows.
You must remember we are putting this together without TV money.
As I say everyone is entitled to their opinion but by the amount of ticket sales we have already from people who went to the last show (and with the comments we have had) it appears that your opinion is not shared.
Thanks for your feedback though. If you would like to PM me with your phone number I will give you a call and we can discuss and you can point out what you think we can do better.
Anyway back to Yassine. This will be a cracking fight and will be his defining night.

Me too thought the whole show was excellent. Maybe pyenests77 fav. fighter got beat. Steve I did ask you on another thread but you didn't answer why did Mcintyre not fight on the sept 11 show?

His licence did not come through in time so wasnt licenced. He is due on the next show on 4th December. His licence has come through now.
Thanks for your comments. Really appreciated.
Dont know why the poster wasnt happy with show It is the ONLY negative feedback we have had. Am always happy to chat and discuss anyones ideas or criticisms.
This December show I aim will be even better and bigger than the last one. The main event is the biggest non televised bill main event for a very long time.
I just hope everyone gets behind the show as it is a big cost for me to stage this.
Really want Yassine to show everyone and if he wins something bigger is being planned which we hope leads to a World title shot for him in 12-18 months if he keeps winning.
Saw Yassine Saturday he is really excited about this and just wants evryone to get behind him. He is a really nice guy (who has never had a real chance) and deserves the break.

Jimmy Colas is one of my favourite European fighters. A very good EU title level fighter and probably very unlucky that the EBU light Middle scene has been very very good of late. Must be a bit long in the tooth now.
Re: Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas. 4th December 2010.
Thanks for the reply Steve. I for the record think that is a great headliner for a non televised show & i certainly dont want to get in a slanging match on here either. I know that promoting is a difficult job & that if your boxers have losses on their records it makes them less marketable.stevegoodwin wrote:Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Wow tough fight for El Maachi. Like Stu, I've been following Jimmy Colas's career for a while now. He's a right handful at European level. El Maachi will have done well if he can beat Colas. Good luck Steve and Yassine!
Re: Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas. 4th December 2010.
Can I just say as somebody who is at pretty much every fight in London that Steve's last undercard was pretty good - actually about 8/10

Great fight! your certainly a man of your word steve, you said you would get Yassine tough fights and keep him progressing and you have delivered.
Ive been to loads of shows and i have to say Yassines last fight at the York Hall was one of the best atmosphers i have ever witnesses at a boxing show.
Keep up the great work steve see you in December!!!!

I'll second that. The atmosphere at these Goodwin Promotions shows are the best ive been to also and I go to many. Thought the atmosphere in September was even better than the April show. I reckon this December night will be the best non televised show of 2010.
Come on Yassine!

Re: Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas. 4th December 2010.
Yassine is going with Dereck Chisora to Scotland for a 4 week training camp for this fight. Colas I am told is in amazing condition and in France they think this is a formality for him.
Fascinating fight. I think it is make or break for Yassine. Colas wants a rematch with Kocelny for thje European Title and also wants Macklin,Rhodes etc. He thinks this is a fight en route.
I cant help thinking Colas will beat El Maachi but i hope i am wrong.

Well done Steve you have obviously put your money where your mouth is as its probably costing you a fair bit to get him over considering you have no tv money.
I hope it pays off for you would love to go to one of your shows but being stuck in Liverpool doesn't help!

Re: Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas. 4th December 2010.
Thanks. I can confirm that we have received signed contracts from Jimmy Colas today. The Colas team think this fight is a walk in the park and a foregone conclusion. Yassine and trainer Don Charles think otherwise. As a promoter it is great when you have a boxer who will take on anyone and the harder task the better.
Of course this is abig financial commitment but i am hoping the London public come to see what is a fantastic fight for a non tv show and support Yassine. If they do and Yassine wins i can do it again and bring over someone even higher ranked. We have an option on a former legitimate world champion for March if Yassine wins.

Excellent to see El Maachi step it up. Lets hope he can come through this and finally kickstart his career into the big time.
He has a lot to live up to with all thats been written about him on the internet, its a tough fight so fair play for actually putting the fight together and getting Yassine a big fight.
Best of luck to him.

Re: Yassine El Maachi v ex WBA Light Welterweight Champion
Steve seems to have a heck of a lot of faith in Yaccine, Colas is quite a big ask but seems to me if this is true he is fast tracking him big time.

Harris was just smashed by VICTOR ORTIZ.. I think he should operate at a lower level or retire.
YEM by stoppage.

Colas I think is a tougher ask than Harris.

Re: Yassine El Maachi v ex WBA Light Welterweight Champion
I can confirm this is one of many options we are considering after Yassine hopefully beats Colas on 4th December. Colas is coming over as he thinks it is an easy job for him.
I only started promoting in March this year and for Yassine to sign with a rookie promoter was a big call for him and his trainers Don Charles and Kevin Maree. Fortunately some people close to them had known me for 25 years and knew I would keep my promises.
As long as Yassine keeps winning we will get to where we want to get to and I will ensure this happens.
Yassine is the only boxer who has said to me "I dont care who I fight. You dont need to clear it with me. Get the best you can in the ring". He is a credit to the sport and it is a shame no one has got behind him until now.
He has his first fight for me in April against Bertrand Aloa. Unfortuanately false promises were made by a Moroccan promoter where Yassine was promised a shot at the ABU Title in July. This never happened and now we will do it ourselves. That promoter cost Yassine 6 months of his career. Yassine wanted to give it a go as it was in his homeland which I understood and it was happening with my blessing. However this has cost us time and with Yassine being 31 now we wont be doing that again.
Jimmy Colas is a very tough test but I can promise if he beats Colas next years fights will be much much tougher against much higher rated opponents. Colas is ranked 4 by the European Union body so i think if Yassine beats him he will once and for all end this nonsense about him being a "hype job".
If and when he wins it will set up 2011 as a very exciting time for Yass and for me as I work to get him the fights he deserves.
I hope may turn out to support him in December.

Considering Ortiz is world class and YEM has not yet fought beyond domestic level, it is a indeed a lower level for Harris.FLEX wrote:Harris was just smashed by VICTOR ORTIZ.. I think he should operate at a lower level or retire.

Re: Yassine El Maachi versus Jimmy Colas York Hall December 4th
Whilst I want Yassine to win, I dont think he has any chance whatsoever. Think Colas will just be too active for him and wins clearly on points. Yassine loads up too much and he will never stop Colas.
