Who next for Frankie Gavin?

Post by forcefraser »

Coming along nicely and clearly way above the opposition he has fought so far.

When does Warren start stepping him up to the next level? I would have thought he is more than ready for it.

What about a fight against the likes of Colin Lynes or Gavin Rees? I think both of these would be a great learning fight for Frankie at this stage and would get him some good hard rounds under the belt.

Barnes, or Lynes if he hasn't retired. Or the Finnish lad that gave Branco everything he could handle.

Morrison is fighting Mccloskey for EBu this week. Lynes is moving upto welter. Wright is fighting Williams for English title. I not sure who Daws is fighting next? Rees is fighting at lightweight due to fight Murray for title but if Murray vactes it could be Watson.

Whoever Frankie fights next should prepare him for a tilt at the British within a couple of fights after - Barnes, Lynes, Wright all fit the bill. Following a couple of fights against opponents of that calibre, I think Frankie will be more than ready to take Lenny Daws on and win. I haven't seen enough of Byrne to say whether or not it would be a good fight, but I feel Frankie would have more to gain against seasoned, proven operators who will give him a taste of the tricks he might expect as he moves up in level. If Byrne keeps winning, they'll meet probably meet some time further down the line anyway.

I was hoping for Curtis Woodhouse too. They were hyping the fight nicely and generating some interest. I think it would be a good fight from the viewer's perspective.

Curtis Woodhouse was meant to be on the mag 7 show. Would love to see Frankie fight him on the degale card in December.

Woodhouse makes sense but not if Gavin is fighting on 11 December in London. Gavin-Woodhouse should happen in Birmingham. Maybe if Gavin were to win his next fight and it was as was mentioned for the Commonwealth title he could make his first defense in front of his own fans in Birmingham.

Yes, It would be too easy for Byrne 8) . Dean Byrne has called Gavin out in the past. Would Frankie Gavin be man enough for the challenge? Fighting for Gavin's Irish Light welterweight title :D. I could see Irish fight fans flocking to see that fight :bag:
