interestingly, thaxton, mcallister and hickman had all been effective at, or beaten good fighters up at light welterweight.G0mez wrote:No, the fact is - they were all lightweights, something you neglected from your critique.kingfinn wrote:Thaxton was shot and retired after the fight, he's fighting guys that "were" domestic names. Compare that to who khans fought recently. Murray was 1/33 odds on favourite to beat kudriavtsev that shows the level of opposition he's up against.Autobarn wrote:kudriavtsev, buckland, thaxton, meager, mcallister & lawton were all ranked in the top 10 european rankings and murray stopped all of them.
don't see how he's been fighting journeymen.
and doing this has been enough to get him world rankings in a couple of the sanctioning bodies and even a top 10 in the ring magazine's rankings.
so murray would last just a bit longer than steffy bull?
And sorry but the rest of the guys are non names in world boxing, who the hell has gary buckland ever fought, i like the guy but he has the punch power of a 15 year old.
Lawton was demolished by khan, a fight murray was stripped of his belt for.
Mcallister has fought 90% shite
Meager is another guy whos been beaten whenever he has been tested and can't punch.
Fighting a once top 10 EBU contenders isnt anywhere near the same as getting in the ring with the number 3 world ranked fighter and world champion from the weight class above.
Murray should be fighting top 10 world ranked opponents now.
People said how great Mitchell was and how he would trouble khan, he stepped up to the world level and got hammered.
The fact is Murrays promoter cant get him good fights so he hasnt been tested, im just waiting for the next fight to be anounced - andy murray or the likes.
Khan fought smaller men his whole career - John hasn't.

Terry if I am not mistaken the UK leg of "Judgement Night" as it was called was actually on Sky Sports - although there were instances in which UK/US Super bills were on PPV - used to be the norm as you said.
Even if the bill wasn't outstanding in the UK, they would still add value for money.
Remember "Night of the Champions" - Naz vs Hardy, Reid vs Wharton, Lewis vs McCall 2 (that was actually over 2 nights).
Lewis vs Briggs and Mavrovic were supported by good bills in the UK. As was Hamed vs Kelley (Reid vs Malinga, Barry Jones, Mickey Cantwell all in world title shots).
Then we had some gems absolutely free.... Golota vs Lewis, which had Piper vs Michaelswecki, Thompson vs Rochigianni and a UK bill all was free. and of course the Hatton vs Tackie / Hopkins vs Joppy massive bill.

It would certainly be a throwback. And yes, Geedorah, thank you for pointing out my error — of course, I meant to say £2 rather than £20
