Maidana became mandatory in December (9 months ago) and a fight has already been signed. Khan only had one fight in between which was against a former champ. Not exactly something to fall out over! Some of the things he says however, can be more than irritating. He just does not do himself any favours when he opens his mouth or starts tweeting.

I think most the time I can put up with him and actually want him to do well as it all reflects onto british boxing if he does well which can only be a good thing. However there is still that underlying arrogance to him which grates. An example of this was at the Murray fight on Saturday, they asked him was Murray ready for a world title shot and he was like, no, maybe in 2 more fights etc etc and started being quite negative towards Murray.

I thought this was a little rich coming from a 'made' fighter such as himself, who has had a lot of hand-picked opponents who couldn't punch and has been gifted belt opportunities where guys like Murray are grafting their bollocks off with less powerful promoters, so every chance they get has been worked for twice as hard as Khan has had to work. It's like he sometimes doesn't realise how priveleged he really is to be in such a position with powerful promoters behind him from day 1.

No doubt that Khan has been promoted a lot better than most, but the problem with fighters like Murray is that they've been fighting nobodies for far too long. I don't agree about this 'Murray has worked his B*ll*cks off" sh*t. I mean after two years since turning pro Khan was fighting against the Commonwealth Champion whilst Murray at around 3 years as a pro was fighting Worcester's own Billy Smith with only 3 wins and 39 losses! At around 5 years as a pro Murray was scraping a points victory over Youseff Al Hamidi with considerably more losses than victories. Yes the same Al Hamidi who has 27 losses and only 7 wins! Murray and his team a partially to blame.

I always try and ignore a fighter's public persona because I think they will generally be normal guys in private. However with Khan it's just a few little things that have irritated me of late. For example, moaning on Twitter about a scratch on his lambo or about the amount of travelling (a few weeks ago he said "I hate this life"). Get the violins out. He needs to think about what he says a little bit more.

In Khan's case, the less he says and tweets the better it will be for him IMO.

Is it really Khan who does this twittering or whatever the fornicate it is? I just find it hard to believe that a man in his shoes would do something so poxy, if it was me I'd be too busy drinking, fornicating and engaging in allsorts of other outrageous lunacy.

I dont really like Khan but i can honestly say hand on heart its not because he's a muslim or he has pakistani heritage,I just find him to be incredibly arrogant and also very shallow! If you read the guys tweets you'll see what i mean!Last night he tweeted about how some john murray fans gave him problems and then he called john murray a bum who he'd knock out in 3 rounds! To me thats disrespectful.Yes of course be angry with murrays fans for what they did ie scratched his car i think but dont talk about a fellow pro who's also a very good fighter in his own right!

He doesn't do himself any favours though with the things he comes out with. They should take him off tv and twitter.
Thats kinda contradicting what you're saying! As one hand your saying you're a fan and you dont care why people dislike him but on the other hand you're he says stupid things and should be taken off tv and twitter?!Surely you can tell then why people dont like him which is because of his attitude!Sure there are racists who just hate him because of his skin colour but thats a minority i think.

totally different amateur careers (murray had about 24 ama fights, FFS) and totally different money and promoting.

these analogies really are bollocks sometimes, as if everybody should be judged by the same standards, when you end up overlooking many different factors.

it is easier to bring in an overseas fighter for amir khan because there is more money in it. could murray's promoter afford that, could they bring a champ over when murray's not even rated for his title, etc?

a lot more things are on amir khan's side. murray has worked hard and got close to a world title.

is this where you start taking names out of a hat - rios, peterson, mitchell, prescott, ortiz, maidana, estrada, antillon - and saying either murray should be fighting these guys, should have already been fighting these guys, or would get knocked out by these guys?

were the guys khan faced pre title have much about them, st clair and prescott? could all that big money have been spent more purposefully, or was khan too immature at this stage?

I think the biggest thing that gets to the shaven headed tatooed tight T shirt wearing 40 something pissheads is that Khan right now can beat any white british fighter between 135 to 147 lbs with ease. They would have loved their hero Ricky Hatton to shut Khan up but that fight wont happen now so Khan should expect more hate. I guess they will have to go back to the jeers of Khan is avoiding John Thaxton!!!

For the record I dont like Khan for the way his management handle him and for the way he is a fake. He pretends to be religious but every day im reading about him with jordan or some lapdancer. He also reminds me too much of Audley the way his management team go about business, and i dont like the way he treated Frankk WWarren that was ungrateful.Frrank is a fair man who looks after his fighters, but I recognise the racist element for what they are....totally unfair for no reason.

It's not that I don't like him as a boxer it's more about his personalitilly and his management and the fact that he's overly hyped!

How can one boxer go from fighting commenwealth quality boxers to fighting for world titles in a space of a year? Add to the fact that he unofficially lost a fight beofre the Prescott fight and got away with it because of his so called potential and status.

If Khan was any other boxer he would of had to fight more at European level and then people would of still been saying don't move them too quickly, His career has been all about hype and potential and it's just annoying that there are other fighters with similar or better potential that will have to fight double the fights in harder contests than Khan ever did to get where he is. Then he has the cheek to get onto SkySports and run John Murray's achievements down and saying that you can't box like that and win world titles, has he forgot about Ricky Hatton and many others that have achieved world titles fighting like that?

He comes across arogant and with a chip on his shoulder because he believes he's done it the hard way, and in my opinion he hasn't, he's been lucky and yes he may be a good boxer and he may now be having some tough fights but it's so much easier to do that when you've been protected then if you've had to have 30 fights before even getting a sniff at world honours.

Good thing too, as it shows that the majority are pro Khan.

There's definitely an element who don't like him and probably never will.

I don't like Khan because he's arrogant.

I also strongly believe that his just used the I'm english attitude a bit to much to get his carrer off and running. Examples being, his Dad always use to wear the union Jack top, after one of his fights he made a point of wishing the English football team good luck in the world cup. I find it false, look at his brother didn't get picked by the Great Britain Amateur team, so what does he do, switches straight to the pakistani Jersey. Also when Amir's other family members come to watch him, there quick to brandish the green and white pakistani flag after he's won.

Khan is a good boxer don't get me wrong, but I struggle to support him as an English fighter!!!!!

Amir would have done the same as Haroon, in fact he very nearly did. Lennox brandished the Canadian flag after the olympics, it doesn't mean he's not British. Amir being British suited the media when they were keen to use him as a poster boy for British Muslim relations. Also, you'll find that TV stations and newspapers ask Amir for comments on the football team, he doesn't start ringing up ITV saying, I have a message I must get to Fabio!

For me, I don't care whether he is British or otherwise, neither would I be bothered if he started waving the flag of any nation he chooses. I find newspapers full of John Terrys face emblazoned with the cross of St George (and his pathetic accompanying battle cry) before a meaningless friendly far more offensive.

I like watching Amir because fast hands with a touch of vunerability leads to exciting fights. The turnaround from crumbling against the crude Prescott to world champion capable of cleaning up his division has earned him major respect. Its frightening to think he is only 23.

Yes, Murray had only 24 amateur fights and lost 8 of them. Can you blame promoters and media for treating them differently? As for hard work, you've got to take into account the work put in as an amateur then. Amir has been working hard since the age of 11 on his boxing and has won a number of junior ABA titles and the junior Olympics. If Murray had worked that hard as an am and had success he would've been given the easier route as a pro. No one can seriously say that Khan got where he is today without hard work. We can however say that most of the hard work on his part was during his early years form age 11. I personally don't like the things Khan says and I definitely don't like some of the nutters that are with him but to give the impression that he's been gifted his opportunities is wrong. These are the fruits of many years of hard work. Khan may be in the clouds right now but he will swiftly come back down to earth if he gets KO'd by Maidana.

Olympic Silver Medallist at 17! Don't give them out do they. Good thing about Khan is he adapting to his weaknesses, and putting the work in. The fact he chats shite on the internet clouds over that. Then again, he is 23, what were you like as a young lad?

Regarding Khans brother, yeah the chances of him getting picked to fight for GB are far wider than getting picked for Pakistan so if you have a chance to represent another nation at international tournaments including the Olympic games then why not? I would do the same if given a similar situation because I see my own gain more important than the countries gain, I bet the vast majority of other people would agree too.
