Yes, it's one of the many reasons I don't really like Rocky IV. Even allowing for the poetic license of the entire franchise, there are just too many absurdly unrealistic things in Rocky IV which bother me as a boxing fan. Your point is of course one of them, and not only that, but Drago is considered a massive betting favourite vs Balboa!

True, but part of the appeal of Rocky 1 and (to a lesser extent) 6 is the realism. Rocky 4 was like watching a video game - the fight dynamics were about as realistic as beating down someone's energy bar.
