Carl Weathers was jacked!

Even by today's standards of athletes & action stars.

Whatever conditioning program Weathers was on in the mid '70s, was ahead of it's time.

Hey, why wasn't he in the Expendables?

You should see what he has to say from being on the set of the first Predator film. Between himself, Arnie & Jesse The Body, it was a complete boys' club, with vanity the name of the game.

He says something along the lines of, "I'd go into the gym with a cup of coffee, watch those two working out, & say, 'wow, you guys are really workin' hard,' & then go back out. Come back in at 4am when no one was around & work it to get that pump, because when you walk onto the set looking as good as I did, it's gotta be natural. You can't work out that hard, nobody does (laughs)".

That conditioning program was called the NFL. I saw that movie about 30 times in the cinema, sorry pop, and I just watched it for about the 100th time the other day myself. I'd love to ask Sly why they are interviewing him before the decision is announced.

he was a superb athlete, great boxing material, lightning fast hands, lean and for a 210 pounder light as heck on his feet. Watch the rocky 1 outtakes of him and stallone sparring and stallone says they had to slow his punches down big time for the actual movie.

The reason he wasnt in the expendables is cos he fell out with stallone over rocky 6 , weathers asked for a role, sly turned him down.

But Carl was recently in another heavily hyped film of the summer PIRANHA so he is still in the limelight as much as the cast of the expendables.

Thats what I thought at first. Stallone wanted to do a more dark serious work, but Carl Weathers was really on Slys case about Apollo being in there as some kind of dream montage, as Burgess Meredith was in Rocky 5. They actually fell out over it which is a shame as they had been friends and training partners for decades.

My thoughts exactly.

And yeah, the whole Predator cast looked like a bunch of GI Joes.

I'm really annoyed he didn't get a boxer in The Expendables though. He had Couture and Austin, so certainly he should've balanced it out with a Tarver or Briggs or somebody else. Lewis could've made for some fun international appeal.

Not for me. That damn movie was geared too much for the idiot Spike TV audience, save Jet Li's inclusion.

I would have paid to see Weathers box... Particularly if he kept the charisma of Apollo Creed... If he was as good as he looked and stuck to the whole champ persona, he could have gone far.

He certainly looked impressive (and deadly quick).

how the same person who wrote the great script of the first
rocky could do such an utterly bad thing as the expendables
is beyond me.

i found rocky balboa quite good but this expending thing is
real bad bad film making.

He was? Are you not confusing him with Ving Rhames?

I think he is confusing the two. The only thing I've seen Weathers in recently are some Bud Light commercials.
