Bud Ridley Query

Post by Ric »

It appears that I entered the bout and wrote the comment (although I don't remember doing so). Perhaps I merely "mopped" up this bout.
Nevertheless, I find it difficult to believe that Ridley had an ND in California on Feb. 10, 1925. All bouts then and there were decisions, were they not? Does anyone have better data?

I know Benny Leonard managed to get the local promoters to agree to No-Decisions when he came to California. On a side note, I see you entered an Oakland bout for a Frankie Barren. Was this Frankie Farren?

According to a few sources on the web Nov. 4, 1924 was the lucky day.

Matt, I double-checked my newspaper source. It does clearly say Barren of San Francisco, but likely is a typo, as we have no other bouts for anyone named Barren. Thanks for catching this. I made the change, adding a comment.

L.A. TIMES confirms it was ND-12. Bud got his butt kicked good. :(
