It's not the say though, the media can talk about "Naz" without needing a qualifier and people would immediately know who they were referring to. Only Hatton's family and friends would call him "Rick" or "Ricky", a news report would never call him that, unless "Hatton" followed it or his full name had already been established. I saw a documentary on TV just called "Naz".
