Not surprised to see Troy Lowry being the centre of debate, trouble follows that man everywhere.
Seriously, I sat down to do my picks for the Prediction League and couldn't believe Lee was fighting someone this bad.
My Prediction is Andy Lee WKO1st. If it goes 4, I will be disappointed.

Lee will carry lowry for a few rounds to get the good work in. I would be shocked if he went all guns blazing and took him out in one round. At least 5 rounds imo.

Len's use of 'hombre' is obvious - he is becoming a fanboy of Saul O'Alvarez! Mexicos only ever recorded citizen of the ginger persuausion! Watch him turn Irish on Leonards website - especially if he wins a world title! :geek2:Deserter wrote:Carlos-Wigan wrote:I thought you were leaving the thread?slapbangwhallop wrote:![]()

What? You mean seeing the pompous British and thick Irish bicker and moan while intelligent people like ourselves take a break from our sex, drugs and rock and roll life style to sit and watch? 8)Dioufy wrote:Am I the only one with a massive sense of Déjà vu here?

Do you want me to tell everyone that you were wrong over the passport issue and the British title? Remember that one? Six pages of you calling the Paddies thick and McCloskey a Brit - turned out you were wrong didnt it. Saul is Irish - no doubt in that, 110% Mickey O'Shea - you obviously never heard of Los San PatriciosCarlos-Wigan wrote:Len's use of 'hombre' is obvious - he is becoming a fanboy of Saul O'Alvarez! Fair play to Len, fightnews is reporting that Duddy-Lee looks a goer for Madison Square Garden on December 4, which means that the only true Irishmen in the Garden will be the fighters themselves.

Indeed - according to 'the law' you don't have to be a British citizen to fight for the title - This has wiped out aroud a hundred years of tradition and I wasn't aware the change had come about (Maybe 'The Law' could furnish us with details) and once where the likes of Mick Leahy, Barry McGuigan, Najib Daho and more recently - Bruce Scott and Peter Oboh had to change their nationality to British to fight for the title - looks like this is no longer the case. Though I did read somewhere that Ovill McKenzie was still 'ineligible' to fight for the British title - why would this be?slapbangwhallop wrote:Do you want me to tell everyone that you were wrong over the passport issue and the British title? No. There's still no justification for the so-called fight that's taking place beforehand.dutchie wrote:Is it starting to make sense now????????????????????????bennie wrote:Fair play to Len, fightnews is reporting that Duddy-Lee looks a goer for Madison Square Garden on December 4, which means that the only true Irishmen in the Garden will be the fighters themselves.

Again, as always there examples, you give are all of people that were born outside of the United Kingdom. You may not appreciate my take on the boxing scene but I assure you 1,000's others do. I am not trying to say I am some towering intellectual and/or journalistic icon up there with the likes of Gary Bushell or the 3am Girls but I do my best with the limited amount of time I have available.Carlos-Wigan wrote:Indeed - according to 'the law' you don't have to be a British citizen to fight for the title - This has wiped out aroud a hundred years of tradition and I wasn't aware the change had come about (Maybe 'The Law' could furnish us with details) and once where the likes of Mick Leahy, Barry McGuigan, Najib Daho and more recently - Bruce Scott and Peter Oboh had to change their nationality to British to fight for the title - looks like this is no longer the case. Actually the majority of purchasers of tickets for Duddy's fights are first generation Irish in New York or more specifically Queens. Increasingly becoming an aging and dying bred since 9/11 and the increased invigilance at US Board Control - damn pesky moozlums!bennie wrote:Fair play to Len, fightnews is reporting that Duddy-Lee looks a goer for Madison Square Garden on December 4, which means that the only true Irishmen in the Garden will be the fighters themselves.
Its the 2nd/3rd/4th etc generation guys that really boost the TV ratings.

McGuigan didn't give up his irish nationality, because he got a british passport. Alot of people in the six counties(the North of Ireland) have both Irish and british passports.Carlos-Wigan wrote:Indeed - according to 'the law' you don't have to be a British citizen to fight for the title - This has wiped out aroud a hundred years of tradition and I wasn't aware the change had come about (Maybe 'The Law' could furnish us with details) and once where the likes of Mick Leahy, Barry McGuigan, Najib Daho and more recently - Bruce Scott and Peter Oboh had to change their nationality to British to fight for the title - looks like this is no longer the case. A girl I work with has both passports. When she's flying to the UK she carries her british passport, she says she gets less hassle. Flying to anywhere else she uses an Irish passport, she says she gets more hassle if they think she's a brit 8).

Lets not shall we. The above is as close as we are going to get to an apology from Carlos for perpetuating a 6 page bun fight on the basis of incorrect information.FeargalóCuinneagáin wrote:McGuigan didn't give up his irish nationality, because he got a british passport. Re: Andy Lee's next fight is a disgrace
Have a look at my earlier posts - I've said that none one could defend this bout as being competitive or meaningful (outside of Lee's bank manager)hurlock wrote:they are saying it's farcial & by lee's standard's & it is especially when you look at his rival's barker, macklin, duddy, pirog.
Its a nothing fight that keeps Andy in pocket money and make his record appear better to an uninformed observer whilst he waits for something bigger in the pipeline. I'm simply bemused at all the fuss.
p.s. I would drop Barker from that list of examples.
Re: Andy Lee's next fight is a disgrace
why he's undefeated??? & has looked good??
that's a silly statement, he is clearly knocking on the door & is fighting live opponent's.

Barker has had one fight this year. That was against Affif Belgacham. Lee beat him, and more convincingly.
