Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
Hey Samuel I tend to agree a little.
Its almost like not paying a fighter what he is entitled to...........
What's worse in your opinion?

Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
Haye does this before every fight....pushes his words to the limits to promote. He has done for a while and its probably why he's done so well self promoting in comparison to others.
But....
listen to how respectful he is after the fight, how gracious he is to his opponent. He is not a silly boy, he knows the public want to see a level headed winner...but he needs to grab the interest in the first place and unless it's a Klit he has to do that by trashtalking and soundbites.

Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
It's funny how things get changed as the story is retold. What Haye actually said was "this is going to be as one-sided as a gang rape by a pack of silverback gorillas". Which to me just sounds like an animal joke.
Then it was quoted as "this will be as one-sided as a gang-rape", which obviously sounds a lot more serious and less pleasant (to say the least) as it takes out the animal element.
Now we're being told he's going to gang-rape Audley. See what's happened here?

Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
I am amazed that the board haven't pulled him especially after his tee shirt episode when he received a warning. Very distasteful comments and analogy in my opinion. He's the heavyweight champion and should act responsibly and an apology was expected not this arrogant stance. Badly advised to say it let alone stand by it. Be interested in what sky take on it is or the board for that matter. Sure fights have to be sold but this is dragging the sport in to the gutter and causing offence to the increasing female audience that are coming in to the sport. All in all poor poor attitude from the sports figurehead.

He also said he would violate audley. Please God big audley doesn't fall face down and the corner chuck the Vaseline in!greenyox3 wrote:It's funny how things get changed as the story is retold. Joking aside, haye chose very bad analogies and should at least apologise for the offence he has caused.

Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
I don't really give a toss what David Haye says but must say he doesn't need to bother with the "outrageous" comments to sell the fight. It's already sold. No matter how hard David Haye tries to play the villain in this one, the fact is that the majority of this country thinks Audley Harrison is a joker and want to see him knocked out...AGAIN!
Casual boxing fan can't wait to fork out for this one. The arena will be full and they'll do a decent number on the PPV's.

Who gives a toss if Haye makes a bad taste joke? We live in a bad taste society
Well Done Haye keep up the good work!

Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
I find his comment as offensive as if a Klitschko said that Haye would end up hanging from a tree. Feel free to disagree vehemently but the fact that Haye doesn't seem to understand how crass his words are is disappointing. I thought he was better than that.

..and your the comedian?..or was that a joke?deadpan wrote:I find his comment as offensive as if a Klitschko said that Haye would end up hanging from a tree. Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
I wonder if he regrets the comments he made after Audley Ko'd Sprott when he laughed off the suggestion of a fight between them, or on Sky sports a few months down the road again laughing off suggestions.
Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
I'm someone who has seen the impact of rape at close hand. To use it so flippantly to 'promote a fight' is grim.
Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
So you supporting Harrison then?deadpan wrote:I'm someone who has seen the impact of rape at close hand. To use it so flippantly to 'promote a fight' is grim.
Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
I'm a big Haye fan who is amazed that such a seemingly likeable and universally liked bloke has come up with a vile comment and not rectified the situation.
Re: Haye 'i dont regret comments'
gang rape by silverback gorillas though?deadpan wrote:I'm someone who has seen the impact of rape at close hand. To use it so flippantly to 'promote a fight' is grim.
Its utter absurdity and is a damning indictment of modern society that things that are said can be so twisted, misrepresented and used to judge.
Haye made a ridiculous comment that has no basis in reality - i'd wager there has never been a confirmed case of rape, gang or otherwise, by a gorilla, primate or, indeed, any other animal (my leg was once humped by a jack russell, but I was too ashamed to report it)
Those taking offence are like the air hostess at the end of Meet the Parents who doesn't like Ben Stiller saying bomb. context is all, people, and in this context Haye was crass, but certainly not "grim".
