Richard Williams Vs Scott Dann

Post by DG. »

Just to contiinue the DANN theme!

Who would win this fight ?.

I think this may have been touched in before - who wins?.

I say Richard Williams wins by late stoppage!

:TU:

Lockett etc are good - but not skilled enough, imo to beat Dann

We could actually have a great series of matchups in this country between Dann, Lockett, Elcock and Williams. You could argue all day about who'd beat who but I reckon the fact remains that they can all punch, and should all be able to hurt each other if they landed.

If I was the Sanigar's I'd take the mandatory and, providing Scott won, try and match him at european level. No point knocking about on the domestic scene if he doesn't have to, and he can always drop back into the mix if he falls short at the next level.

Yes - I would like to see some good domestic fights for a change!

Would it get on tv though?.

everoyne keeps talking aobut Richard but Im not so sure he hasnt shot his bolt. Be a shame if so but he hasnt exactly been hammering the doors down to keep busy has he? His last fight was in November and Iv eheard nothing of him since.

Dann is a big middleweight and Richard a not particularly big light middle, Dann young and hungry Richard inactive and seemingly out of love for the game, these factors make me lean towards Scott, whom isnt just a banger, he had an extremly successful amatuer career and can box as well as bang.

I dont see anyone at domestic level taking on Scott at present to be honest. I'd like to see him getting a shot at the European crown by spring next year.

Possibly not. It'd be great to see it on Bravo or the like.

I think Williams has had his day, I doubt very much he can take Dann's shots he's not really a middleweight.

Interesting discussion. I think Richardf is a bette boxer than Dann and ad to tht the fact that he really was too buig to be a light middle - I think RW has the tools.

Dann is looking good though - or should that be 'sounding good' as he never gets seen on tv these days.

Richard was due to appear on the Matchroom bill that Bravo showed - but at the last minute they could not get him on the show.

He is inactive - but hope to see him back soon!

You may be right about the changing of the guard - but I still believe RW is a class above....technically!

Time will tell!

If Williams stays at middle and opts for the British title, then I'd have to pick him as the cream of the crop.

With Dann's desire and thunderous punching he is going to take some stopping, but Halder did appear to stun him slightly before being put down for the count, so there is an exciting feel to Scott's contests that it could be a punch either way to decide the outcome.

Enter Gary Lockett and I feel he has the power and chin to win if the contest becomes a slugging match.

Elcock has decent skills, good stamina and a solid dig but at this level (British title standard) I have to question his ability to stand up to any of the other three's power. He was probably caught cold by Lawrence Murphy, but surely Williams, Dann and Lockett are much more heavy handed and sharper than Murphy ?

If Halder stunned him - he can no doubt be stopped by a Lockett or a Williams!..

Skills should prevail re: Williams.

Lockett - he may just get busted up!

Yes, D.G. , RE:Dann coming unstuck against the power of Lockett and Williams.....the things is, while I'd favour both Richard and Gary over Dann, if Scott lands first then it could be curtains for them too.

On reflection maybe "surprised" would have been a better description of Dann's reaction to Halder's opening attacks, rather than stunned.

But BONKERS or not ( ), I can't dismiss a class act like Williams.

From what i've seen Richard looks comfortable at either the lightmiddle or middleweight poundage. I think even the Sanigars might agree that Dann is always one good punch away from being beaten himself. But it's that sort of boxer that makes me want to watch them.

Fair point - but I think RW has the chin. Lockett would most likely get busted up!

The only person Dann has faced that was any good - beat him!.

No way did he knock down HE either!!

I jusg think LM may have taken away some of RW naturl strength and power.

Lockett hasd power - but little else!

even thou williams seems to have trouble with south paws i think he still beats Dann lockett not sure if they faced each other 100 times i think one would win 60 the other 40 times that sort of match. but if i had to probably lockett.
