Earl vs Bennett postponed.

Post by stujones »

Source : Kevin at BBN.

After losing his undefeated record last time out Luton's Graham Earl has now been forced to pull out of his history making British and Commonwealth title fight with Commonwealth champion Kevin Bennett.

This sensational match-up was scheduled to take place on May 12th and was to be screened on Setanta Sports PPV and world wide on the web by fightnight.com.

Earl has been forced to pull out due to a hand injury and was advised by his doctor and physio that he would risk permanent damage to his hand if he were to have fought.

The fight has been rescheduled for Thursday June 16th and will be televised by Setanata Sports and on fightnight.com.

Earl knows that to step into the ring with Kevin Bennett he must be 100% fit if he is to retain his British title and gain the Commonwealth crown and stay in contention in the white-hot lightweight division.

This will be the first British & Commonwealth title fight at the newly revamped York Hall.

By moving the show to the York Hall in Bethnal Green which holds 300 more people it has enabled Maloney Promotions to add newly crowned Southern Area lightweight champion Rob Jeffries to the bill, he will make the first defence of his title.

The good news is that the price on Setanta Sports and fightnight.com will stay the same.

You cannot blame anyone here, the injury is geniune I have no problems with the fight being shifted for this reason.

I hope Dean Phillips takes it easy for a couple of weeks now, don't want him to overtrain for the comeback fight. He must be so pissed off with this.

Yes, I am pissed off big time as I am 100% ready for this, but these things happen in boxing all the time - unfortunately.
