SMIGGA ARE YOU FIGHTING PAUL DAVID ON THE 23RD
I had a feeling after watching Tony Bellew struggle against Bob Ajisafe last week that this bill may be under threat. If a 9 fight novice (who hadn't boxed for a year) could extend such a talent as Bellew and even drop him, how mentally prepared would Bellew be to fight 4 weeks later?
Now a fight that looks just as one sided as Bellew v Ajisafe on paper is Paul Smith v Paul David,we saw Frank having kittens in the Bellew corner as the fight wore on and maybe he is having second thoughts about a much more able fighter in Paul David beating Smith.Or maybe Smith has thrown in the "injured card" due to lack of preparation for an Ingle fighter who will come to win.I remember Smith having a similar problem to Bellew back in 2005 when he fought another Ingle fighter Simeon Cover, although the score cards declared Smith the winner 60-56 anyone who watched that fight may have viewed it differently.Smith found it very difficult to land on Cover who kept evading Smiths power shots while countering back quickly.
Paul David is a slippery customer but as his record and prisefighter has shown us he can bang too.
So come on Smigga tell us is the fight on or Off?

Re: SMIGGA ARE YOU FIGHTING PAUL DAVID ON THE 23RD
It's easy saying fights look one sided! Im also a novice pro and haven't boxed for 6 months!! Fighting the kind of fighter Bob Ajisafe is,Iis a whole new matter?? I really don't see why this topic has a full paragraph about me and struggling with Bob Ajisafe?? I had an off night mate simple as that.. However the decision cannot be questioned and I feel I won the fight comfortably even though as I have previously stated I boxed terribly.. I'll be back in action soon enough and will once again show just how good I can be..

Is the event still going ahead on the 23rd at the Echo Tony?? A few rumours suggest it may be off?Bomber 1 wrote:It's easy saying fights look one sided! It was more than just inactivity. The mentality was poor, the game plan was poor, loading up on single shots. I don't remember seeing feinting, or just ring smarts in general. Bomber also looked very slow.MachoMan09 wrote:Mate, in reality, you hadn't boxed properly for over 9 months. Your previous fight was almost a walkover. Your performance the other night was a result of inactivity, in my opinion, rather than Anthony or you doing anything significantly wrong in preparation or on fight night. I know it's not always practical for a variety of reasons but I think you should be fighting once every three months at the very least. If you're not having four plus fights a year at this stage of your career, I don't think there's any wonder that you lacked a bit of 'match fitness/sharpness'.Bomber 1 wrote:It's easy saying fights look one sided! It disappoints me that he says he had an off night. There are lots of things to work on from that fight. It exposed lots of weaknesses that need to be corrected in order to keep winning.

all of what you say could be significantly influenced by ringrust, though.Asterix wrote:It was more than just inactivity. The mentality was poor, the game plan was poor, loading up on single shots. I don't remember seeing feinting, or just ring smarts in general. Bomber also looked very slow.

Yo mae some brilliant points but the inactiviy im sure has come to an end now, Like I said I've had a bad day a the office but im also happy in a way no as I have done 12 rounds and Im itching to get back in a ring, People who think I was slow and stuff like that. That's fine but I wasn' slow against 13 other opponents, I feel I am a ver deciving fighter.. Like I say though only time will tell if I am as good as I think I am..

The good thing is you got the 12 rounds in Bomber.Bomber 1 wrote:MachoMan09 wrote:Mate, in reality, you hadn't boxed properly for over 9 months. Your previous fight was almost a walkover. However, the bad points are all too plain to see. Hopefully they are being ironed out in the gym. One thing that can't be ironed out in the gym is a whining attitude in the ring and complaining to the referee. Nobody wants to see that at every turn. However, 12 roudns completed is actually a HUGE plus this early in the career. Well, we say early but Bomber is 27 afterall. Cleverly is what, 23?

All the slaggings I have had over my pal Smigga.
Might actually get the threads up.

there might be 4 years difference but cleverly had no amatuer career where bomber won 3 ABA titles back 2 back so thats why he turned latergoldbird wrote:The good thing is you got the 12 rounds in Bomber.Bomber 1 wrote:MachoMan09 wrote: Mate, in reality, you hadn't boxed properly for over 9 months. Be fair- you know boxers don't always have the final say in when they fight (or even know for sure themselves.)bigdaddy wrote:

No-one can say for sure they won't get injured, or his opponent pulls out etc...

I enjoy reading Smigga's posts, but the fact that he's keeping his own counsel (as is Bomber) tells it's own story.
It would be a shame for Paul David especially after Tony Dodson pulled out of 2 fights with him previously. Let's hope he gets kept in the mix.
