The WBA was not going to sanction the fight with Alvarez, as the number one rated Austin Trout was ready and willing to fight Ishida. The WBA is now ordering that the winner must fight Trout in their first defence, so the bout is now being sanctioned. Either way, Ishida, Trout, and Alvarez are pretty freakin weak to be fighting for a world title. Not hard to see why Mundine targeted this division. I mean Ishida lost twice to Crazy Kim ffs.

Does it look strange to anyone that Alvarez has never fought at light middle, and that
in his last fight -- on July 10 -- where he comes closest, his opponent was a light
heavyweight who appears to have dropped almost thirty pounds, then regained
the thirty pounds in a fight some six weeks later?

Yeah i seen this sanctioned about a week a go....the WBA sure love Mundine, and i think Cotto might be Super WBA champion.

So another silver medal for Mundine if he wins.

Whats funny is that Alverez' manager was on this board about a year and a bit a go, trying to get his fighter fights, now a little over a year later he's fighting for a world title.

Alverez was ahead on points before getting stopped against the very over rated Rubio.

Anthony Mundine, proof that there's a little bit of Charlie Zelenoff in all of us

Didn't Crazy Kim drop Mundine as well?

According to his Boxrec record Cotto has been upgraded to Super World Champion. Not that he beat somebody for it, the WBA, like the other outfits, just likes the idea of having a champion, a super champion and an interim champion. They make more money in sanctioning fees that way.

He dropped him, but didn't beat him twice.
