Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
Beautiful shot from Foster. Kirakosyan was wide open for those hooks, a very crude fighter who has been flattered in his previous showings by facing a crude fighter in Johansson who fought his style of fight and Lawton who was out of his class. Well done Foster.
I had a bet on him at 4.2 on betfair, was gona go for points but it was only 5.5 on Betfair so for the difference I just thought may as well go for all possibilities.

What a nice lad Gary Sykes is.
Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
Leva was wbo no 3 ranked fighter foster jnr should get that ranking. Burns is fighting a lightweight next who not made the super limit for 8 years that's a load of crap for a start.HomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:never going to happen foster left warren for hatton i think, why would warren give him a world title shot?leforge wrote:What a punch! Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
i don't think johanesson was crude. he did what he did well, ie throw short shots and apply pressure. but foster has real potential and i kept bloody saying, he showed that he would give kirakosyan a fight in that brutal fight with arthur.
foster seemd very edgy but was quick with that left hook even before the KO.
will crolla aim for sykes or foster? bet he'll really fancy that sykes rematch but will he want that big prize? who is there for foster to defend vs? hatton won't want to pit them together right away.

He talks well, no malice or pettiness towards the other fighters. I like him, seems to know his own level and is honest about things.Kilburn wrote:What a nice lad Gary Sykes is.

i was also impressed by gary sykes. seemed sure that crolla would win and gave him plenty of credit, not trying to steal any of his thunder and predicting a "great fight" in the rematch.
has sykes been in any other wars than crolla and morris? anything worth checking out?

Just looked at the Prediction League, If I am seeing things correctly. No one picked Foster.

Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
true, but i started a thread talking up foster's chances after looking at foster-arthur.
problem was, we've seen nothing of the man since that arthur fight. couple of non televised undercards is all.

Looks like you was right and I was wrong very entertaining. Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
also i think his fighters have won 3 title fights (EBU twice and English) via stoppage in about 3 weeks.
it's silly we get threads that go on forever - "anthony farnell - is he good - yes he is - no he isn't".
yet joe's fighters are stopping guys and winning titles and you don't hear much about him.

Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
I was very impressed with Crolla. patient and methodical, he showed a McCallum-esque ability to stick the jab out and then counter off Morris' counters, he's very relaxed so he can dig the left hook in downstairs at a moment's notice and with no discernible 'tell' to the punch. And I just love fighters with the presence of mind to go hard to the body when they have a man hurt. nice little fight it really was.
Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
i agree with you, CP. i think what stood out to me was crolla's timing. at times morris showed sizzling hand and foot speed, but every time morris let rip, crolla would tuck up and counter with that dangerous left hook.
this could be my fave fight this year, as technically it was superb but also it was bloody exciting.

That's true but could I ask why you always seem to put too much on stoppage victories when really winning is all it comes down to, no matter how you achieve it?Autobarn wrote:also i think his fighters have won 3 title fights (EBU twice and English) via stoppage in about 3 weeks.

Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
i didn't know i did. i mean, i've been raving about fights like rendall munroe v maludrottu and ricky burns v martinez.
but winning a title, AND stopping the guy, is impressive.

Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
i didn't like Morris' skittishness, barnie i think you said well before time he was wasting energy and it seemed that way to me too- plus he was never sat down on his shots for all that ADHD-type compulsive jig-jagging so he was losing power and in a poor position to take return fire as he hadn't got a stable base, it seemed to me (i think i recognise these faults as they are my own, too). he looked a tad amateurish whereas there was an almost US pro-style schooledness to Crolla's 'wuurruck'/ 'punchieez'
Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
yeah you've nailed what's been doing my head in about morris' style. i think he had to do all that hyper movement and 5 punch combo punching just to live with crolla, who was nailing him with clean jabs and hooks as early as the 2nd.
have to admit i was a bit tense. with it being only a 10 rounder, i was worried that morris would scrape by. but from the midway point it was only a matter of time, and there was enough time.
i think crolla, boxing smartly, could really make sykes miss terribly and punish him with some hard counters.

Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
some of those counter left hooks Crolla didn't need to land them that clean or accurate, he was knocking Morris off-balance with them anyway due to the skittishness i mentioned above.
Re: Foster Jr.-Kirakosyan PBP
and a left hook is a great shot to land on a guy that likes to punch and move to his right. if you're quick on the trigger & have good timing.
can't bloody wait for sykes v crolla 2.
this is a great time for the domestic super feathers and i hope there are more tremendous matchups in the next year or two.
if hatton has his way surely foster will get a european defense that will also improve his WBO ranking. go the mando route for burns (if he's still WBO champ). drop the EBU. if crolla has won the british, in anything near as impressive fashion as winning the english (ok, sykes will be much harder to budge), he'll bein line for the EBU.
