is James De Gale is the number one contender for the British title?

What utter tosh. We don't even know if degale can be competitive under fire, and after a very very soft stoppage against dilks. What that fight taught degale I will never know. I think degale could be walking into a world of poop. Don't forget boys fight still tbc
Degale will say the same thing he said before the Dilks fight, "Boxing is all about LEVELS".

That is the case here. Degale is simply several levels ahead of Smith and will find the fight very easy. Smith won't bring anything that he can't deal with and he will be way too smart for him. I'll have plenty of money on Degale. Lets hope the odds are good because Smith is already overrated. The guy has lost to a fairly poor fighter in terms of levels. Lets not kid ourselves and say the guy he lost to was near Degales league. As I said before, the fight won't happen because Smith doesn't want it. Boxers know their level deep down.

na mate don't mind all the views on the the stoppage I don't think it was the right desision but sum people do! I now one thing won't open my mouth like that again ha ha did I ever feel like a wopper the next day! Lessons learned inside an out the ring! In my opinion if Paul does fight degale I think Paul will win not because he beat me it's I think Paul has seen it all before! I mean I think I froze abit on the big stage which I have openly stated again lesson learned the hard way mite I say! But just think Paul will be able to deal with what comes at him because of the vast of experance he's had from amm to pro to even the contender :TU:
again no sour grapes where over my defeat just what I feel
Good luck in the furure Carl, think you`ve been very honest to come on here and say what you have. Think i got carried away with the hype and thought you would take Degale into deep waters, and possibly stop him late on, but there you go. Carl get back in the gym work hard get some wins on the local shows, and work your way back up the rankings. I`m sure you can, like your attitude, and i support our troops.

Was having a laugh with the dilks thing. Degale v smith is serious, as degale will find out. He was lucky he had a touch with the stoppage v dilks. Degale has put away his opponents the way he should, but is his opposition to date enough? I mean sam horton? Christ! I would love to see him in with Anderson or quigley or David, because in reality he is being rushed along by f w because his stable has not got any one he considers box office enough other than degale. This is to his detriment as he is not learning his trade. For gods sake that man still slaps and does not punch properly. He is quick and has skills for sure, but bombing out dilks in 1 does not prepare him for smith who is being dangerously underrated in terms of degale being levels above him. I have not seen any evidence of this at all yet. F w could be making a big mistake. Smith is a hard man who won't buckle under the first flurry of slapping pissy arm punches degale puts together. Let's just hope if this fight happens that we have a ref with balls who gives it fair both ways

why do people assume this fight is on???

i agree with what your saying about fw wanting to push his fighters now,as he dont have the champions he once had. so why put two prospective bill topper's in against one another?? that dont make buisness sense imo.

Well I'll be honest and say I am still not convinced it is actually happening. It's still being advertised on Liverpool echo website and on f w. Box rec gives degale a tba opponent in December, smiths fight v David still showing on boxrec. There Is no chat from bomber or smigga re anything to do with this so it is only fair that people will assume that something is going on, the question is what? Is there a euro\world shot for smith? Is there a quality opponent for bomber to take on and headline the echo. One thing is for sure, the answers are coming!!

So what is your prediction on the fight then? I'm sure after all that talk, you are going to pick Smith?

Degale is going to make it look easy and expose Smith for what he is. This is why I doubt the fight will happen.

What I am saying is that degale hasn't shown us IMO that he is anywhere near special enough to be a favourite in this fight, at this point in each fighters respective careers. I am not saying that he can't be competitive with smith, my point is the fan fare he has had is justified to a point but a bit ott. He is unproven in terms of punch resistance, going the championship distance and edging out a war, all things smith has done. I feel there are more things to be taken into consideration, rather than the knee jerk reaction most people have with degale "oh he would outbid a brawler like smith" etc. There's more to it than that. Smith has the ring smarts to take degale where he won't want to go, up close on the ropes, unrelenting and power to the body. Smith Is also an underrated boxer.
I would say though great for British boxing if it does happen. Also I would like to say to dilks that his stoppagewas harsh and had he come through ge first round he would have pushed degale all the way

I think there are clear different class levels here. Degale has the potential to get to the top of this division, while Smith at best is a good domestic fighter and may be good enough to challenge at European level. But let's be honest Smith has had over 20 fights, and has not fought and beat any recognised fighter's in this division. In comparison Carl froch has had only a couple more fights than Smith and look where he is. Dosen't this tell you if Smith is any thing more than a good domestic fighter then he would be closer to the worlds best by now??

I think Smith will give Degale a good fight with Degale's inexperience and may at best pip him in a points victory. But Degale certainly has the tools to do a number on Smith, and could force a mid round stoppage.

Smith will be around the 5/2 - 3/1 mark and rightly so. Anybody with any sense would lump on Degale if he was 8/11 as you are suggesting he should be.

It won't happen. Smith is fighting in the 23rd. How is he supposed to turn out again 6 weeks later?

Here is what is going to happen.

DeGale has won an eliminator so is next in line for Smith, hence story about Smith having to fight DeGale before the Smith v David fight.

Smith beats David.

Warren announces that Smith will fight Sartisan for the WBA title early next year.

Smith vacates British title.

Groves is unavailable because he is fighting Toney on October 30.

DeGale fights someone like Kenny Anderson for the vacant British title on December 11.

That, gentlemen, is how boxing works.
