Saw Rocky IV last night.

Post by zojo »

That ref was completely inept! Rocky was clearly knocked down a couple of times and the ref didn't stop the action, count, or wipe off his gloves. I can't even believe he let the fight go on beyond the first round.

With that said, I have a hankering to run up a mountain with a yolk on my back.

The Thing that always makes me laugh about Rocky movies is both fighters usually land about 98% of the punches they throw. In the Heavyweight division, no fight would last a full round.

Not only that, but they throw more punches per round than most heavyweights do in a fight.

a love the rocky films get such a buzz watchin it but all he does is throw loads of hooks and hayemakers. never see proper boxing except for rocky 3 where he used a jab lol. not think its quite funny tht stallone is tiny and if he boxed he'd never b a heavyweight he was like 5"9 or 5"10 lol.

Stallone and Lundgren are all time greats.

Lundgren looks fantastic even at age 51 he recently had a 10 round boxing match with former UFC champion and MMA pioneer Oleg Taktarov on live russian TV its on youtube. It showed both mens fundamental toughness.

Both Stallone and Lundgren made this a great movie , as to get a good shot they were willing to take real shots and punches. Stallone took a punch to the heart and was hospitalised.

Out of all of the guys in Rocky, Apollo Creed looked most like a boxer. Just look at him skipping in Rocky 2, when Leroy Neiman is drawing him as he's skipping. Carl Weathers played the part really well & looked in great shape!

I dunno. I reckon Tommy Morrison and Antonio Tarver looked quite like boxers, too.

I always thought the guy on the right with the 'tache, from the first Rocky film, could've made an excellent boxer:

He would've been over-rated.

If only Duran had smacked Stallone hard enough during filming we could all have been spared 30 odd years of his crap acting and mumbling :box:

Saad Muhammed (the boxer not he boxrec member) cracked him in the chest in sparring and, so the story goes, stopped Stallone's heart for a short time.

I never liked the Rambo films after First Blood but Stallone's no better/worse than 90% of what gets turned out.

the boxing scene's in Rocky Balboa were the most realistic. having hbo annoucers and graphics etc helped too. stu naham just didn't cut it, even though he technically made it into RB by being the announcer's voice on the computer fight.
