Boxingchat - I agree the comments are a little out of order.

The board should make it agenda item 2 after discussing non payment of fighters purses

boxingchat wrote:I am amazed that the board haven't pulled him especially after his tee shirt episode when he received a warning. Very distasteful comments and analogy in my opinion. He's the heavyweight champion and should act responsibly and an apology was expected not this arrogant stance. Badly advised to say it let alone stand by it. Be interested in what sky take on it is or the board for that matter. Sure fights have to be sold but this is dragging the sport in to the gutter and causing offence to the increasing female audience that are coming in to the sport. All in all poor poor attitude from the sports figurehead.
Boxing Tw*t - would you be stating the same thing if he were Mr Warren's fighter?

Out of genuine concern - how is the diet going?

Get a bloody grip! The time for apologies is after the fight, not before.

I've noticed true boxing people are going off Haye in a big way.

His choice of opponent, his 'chat' and throw in the fact Chisora is looking at taking on Wlad, is making him look even more of a dick.

haye own's a small portion of the world title & is really sitting on it which makes him look silly for chasing the klits previously.

i remember him saying the last undisputed cruiser who stepped up was holyfield & he reighned.haye never unified the division, but was ring champion for the weight & holyfield fought 8 times against ranked opposition before getting a crack.

Wrong.

Females are being put off coming due to various issues.

Qualify your statement of "true" boxing people!!!

That statement has to be one of the most elitist, arrogant and outrageous comments made on this "public" boxing forum.

A true boxing fan is someone who travels to fights, buys Boxing Weekly and also Boxing Monthly if it's next to it on the shelf. And it's their opinions in 'readers letters' and on boxing forums I'm noticing. Casual fans who buy the odd PPV and cant name more than 3 or 4 active boxers don't really have much of an opinion.

74 voted on a Haye poll :-

Used to love him, now simply like him 14 (18.9%)
Used to like him, now not bothered 19 (25.7%)
Wasn't bothered, but now dont like him 9 (12.2%)
Didnt like him and now cant stand him 4 (5.4%)
I will always be a fan 23 (31.1%)
I will never be a fan 0 (0%)
I actually like him more than ever 5 (6.8%)

Many of which had been to the Valuev fight and met him ringside, had subsequently changed their opinion on him.

Without casual fans boxing would be dead. Every sport has casual fans, as well as the die-hards. I view PPV's (although rarely pay :D ), do not buy either Weekly or Monthly, and have only attended shows in my area. I also train in boxing 3x per week, and will fight, albeit white collar, soon. Where do I fit in?

Why? Would people offended by the comment feel better then, than now?

Boxing Weekly? Good luck finding a copy of that - when was the last issue out, 1989?

As for casual fans who buy the odd PPV - their 15 quid is worth the same as anyone else's 15 quid!

Well, feel free to pick holes in any sentence I've written, but my point is true.

A lot of people have gone off haye lately.

Indeed they have. But that can only boost the box office of the fight.

I agree. I hate this culture where everyone gets 'offended' at any comment.

It was a distasteful comment. But way too much is being made of it.

I mean if Haye said he was going to murder Harrison; people would just take it as a figure of speech. You wouldn't get murder victim support groups going crazy.
